About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel alone with few plans and see who I really am and what I want to do without my friends and a structured environment

ABOUT ME

I really like learning. About math and science and computers and physics, but especially about people. I like to well informed with culture both "high/historical" and maybe especially "popular". If there is an internet meme I have never heard of before, I have been slacking off. I know a lot of songs and a lot of Youtube videos.

I try my best to to be honest and frank. I tend to say what I think even when its inconvenient or a little rude. I also try to be good natured and not offend anyone or be disrespectful. It seems to work out. I've had friends tell me that I am kind of an asshole but that "that's why they love me." On the whole I try to see that as a compliment.

I talk a whole lot. I need more people to tell me to shut up and listen more often.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Really haven't yet. Looking to just meet people. Maybe looking for a place to crash, but I don't really worry about paying for hostels or anything. More probably looking for people to get a drink with, party with, and maybe show what life is like where you live.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far. Had friends who've had a good time.

Interests

Despite making it all the way through secondary school insisting I would never drink alcohol, since I have become a big fan of both beer and to a lesser extent whiskey. I expect that visits to breweries, pubs, and distilleries will be a part of my travels for years to come.

I am deeply in love with music of many sorts. I used to be all about alternative/punk-pop/emo, but off late I have gotten very into both hip-hop and so-called Electronic/Dance Music (EDM), with a particular enjoyment of glitch, glitch hop, electro-house, dubstep, and so-called "brostep" (i.e. Skrillex). I sang college a cappella. I honestly hope that someday I can manage to make an album of electronic music, possibly with some rapping, but for now that's just a pipe dream.

My appreciation of music (especially outside of EDM) is usually lyric-focused, and so to a degree I am a poet and an appreciator of poetry, but my breadth of knowledge is somewhat limited.

Professionally, I am a software engineer who recently received a degree in Computer Science from MIT. I have been really interested in computers and the internet for a long time and still love talking about them, but have lost some enthusiasm for actually playing with them. I am kinda more interested now in specifically how they can shape/interact with society

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 14, I took an 84 mile hike at the Philmont Scout ranch in Cimarron, Arizona, USA. It was interesting to be away from everything that long. but I really enjoyed it. Since then, my health has made me camp a whole lot less.

I worked an internship at Facebook last summer. It was pretty cool to be a part of and on the inside of connecting so many people, but it also ended up being frustrated.

The other moments/things that left me the most awestruck I probably shouldn't document online.
