Overview
About Me
I was made in Germany (military baby), born in Arizona, raised in Indiana, went to graduate college in Missouri and settled down in Louisiana. Preparing for retirement, we also have a house in Florida. My husband, Paul, is a true cajun and he can cook! We have 8 children between us with 13 grandchildren.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My husband has always been the "host with the most." He loves to cook cajun dishes (gumbo, jambalaya, alligator sauce picante, etc.) and love to tell about the cajun heritage. I love to travel and learn from others, and what better way to do so than couch surfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Love all genres of music -- classical, country, zydeco, 70's music. I'm a sap. I love romantic movies, especially the old classics. I haven't read much since I have been teaching. Well, except for Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, and too many others to name. When we retire, I plan to begin reading the 100 best classics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I raised two boys on my own -- one with special needs. Well, actually, his younger brother was a super helper. I went to college and grad school as a single parent. Even I am amazed that I did it!
Teach, Learn, Share
The cajun culture is so different than what most people are accustomed to. We love to educate and share through hands-on and direct contact with the things and people of southern Louisiana.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Our property is along Terrebonne Bayou where you can fish, crab or just hang out on the deck, gazebo or covered back porch. Just 120 steps from the property you can get live or boiled seafood -- and you can smell it from the back porch on windy days. Each December (Saturday before Christmas) is the annual Christmas Boat Parade which can be seen right from the property. Mardi Gras in Houma is a family-oriented alternative to New Orleans an only 10-20 minutes away.
