I am an exchange student in Leipzig, Germany. I grow up in Indonesia and has traveled quite a bit. When I was in high school I used to be an exchange student in the United States for one year. My experience with different cultures and people has shaped me to be an open minded and lively person.

Though quite preoccupied with my study (industrial engineering!), I love to travel or simply participate in international events where I can broaden my perspective and also meet new people. Countries I have visited these past five years: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and the US (for the second time). While studying in Germany I also have traveled to Italy (Milan, Rome, Venice), Vatican, Czech Republic, Austria, and many more!

I love to cook and very good at oil pastel (drawing and painting). I used to represent in Indonesia in many international events (academic conferences, cultural internship, model united nations, and etc.) and people who met me always say that I am quite a sociable guy.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

A great Brazilian friend of mine (whom I met in the U.S. - long story haha!) told me about CouchSurfing. He himself has been in CouchSurfing for way longer than me. As fellow exchange student living in Europe, he told me the awesomeness of meeting kind-hearted people in CouchSurfing. They are open-minded, willing to share some of their time, to host strangers that will eventually become their friends. I, who have always used hostels or simply asked my friends a place to stay during my trips, was quite surprised by the idea Couchsurfing offers. Thus now I am writing in this "Why I'm on Couchsurfing" section with the intention to experience firsthand what other Couchsurfers have done

Young adult (I am a decent Potterhead) and self-development books. I basically watch movies that my friends recommend to me. I read mangas and watched animes, and series like Games of Thrones and 13 Reasons Why.

Oh, I also have played all the Pokemon games (from the old Gameboy to the latest Sun-Moon installment for Nintendo 3DS)!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Living as an exchange student in the US for a year. I just turned 17 that time! It was my first international travel - heck yea, it was also my first plane ride. Living in a land thousands of miles away was a challenge. However, I learned so many things during my exchange year - which is the reason why I am standing here right now, pursuing my goals in life while also living my dreams to travel and meet new people.

PS: I won both state (Wisconsin) and national-level art competitions while I was in the U.S. During the same period I won scholarships for a week internship on Capitol Hill (to learn about civic engagement) and a one-week trip to Disney World, Orlando, FL. I may sound like an honor student, but trust me I am just that kind of kid who can't sit idly and do nothing ;)

During my exchange semester in Germany, I have brought several gifts and traditional (delicious!) snacks from Indonesia ;) They are not very expensive or fancy, but I really hope that they can convey my gratitude to my hosts. It is also my intention to introduce my country to my hosts (as a matter fo fact, Indonesia is the 4th most populated country after China, India, and the U.S. We have more than 17.000 islands and 400 languages native to each island/ region - something that my international friends would never know if it wasn't me who told them so)

We can also cook Indonesian dishes (fried rice, curry, rendang, etc)!
