I love the idea of couchsurfing... Why do i have to stay in hostels with exclusevely tourists if there's the possibility of spending this time of exploring another place in the house of somebody who lives there and can tell me more about this place ? For me couchsurfing is the perfect chance to get to know another parts of the world and people who live there.
