ABOUT ME

I'm a Scottish-born wanderer who's spent most of my adult life overseas. Self-confessed nomad, two-years here, two-years there, but recently returned to Scotland for my daughter's education.

I love to read - I'll give anything a go, but I'm not really into any namby-pamby girly romance nonsense. I also love music (again, I'll give most types a go), and love cinema (major major geek in this area!)
Travelling is my way of life - I love meeting people, soaking up culture and collecting stories. I like a good night out, anything from a quiet pub with good conversation, to a hardcore night of clubbing - I'm pretty flexible.
I'd describe myself as easy-going and open-minded. I love life and try to live it to the fullest.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So... I started hosting couch surfers in autumn 2009 when I was living in Melilla (one of the Spanish enclaves in Morocco), and then moved to Bangkok, Thailand with my former husband and we continued to host. I like hosting as it's a way to meet interesting people, make friends and swap stories. I myself have lived abroad for several years now (Japan, Spain, Morocco, Thailand and now Saudi Arabia) and I know that it can be difficult when you arrive in a new place - sometimes you just need someone who knows the local area to give you some advice - I don't claim to know everything, but I'll do my best to help you where I can, whether you need a bed for the night or simply some directions to a place you want to go.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

When I visited Hiroshima, Japan, I met a survivor of the A-bomb who honoured me by spending the morning with me. He spoke about his family and his experiences in Hiroshima post-bomb. He was one of the most interesting and sincere people I have met, and meeting him was one of the most emotional, but equally fascinating days of my life.
