Overview
About Me
We are a British/American couple with a French born daughter. Our family previously traveled full time house sitting - we looked after homes and pets for owners who are away, usually for some months at a time. While doing this we couch surfed often, and this is what our references relate to.
We have now been living in Spain for 3 years, but are eager to begin exploring more of this beautiful country.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are looking to begin exploring again soon. As we travel, we love to share and learn from others in different places and meeting locals is a great way to do this.
Interests
I, Donna, am a musician and an English teacher. I teach kids from all around the world online and love it! I am also a lover of all things second hand. I would take a thrift store over Gucci or Versace any day! I also sing in a heavy metal band and ZUMBA class is the highlight of my week! :)
My husband, Simon, is a retired pilot and his great loves are music and reading. He reads about 5 books a week! He plays the guitar and drums and we have played music together for parties, restaurants etc. We both love travel and exploring new cultures. When traveling we prefer finding the local favorites versus the tourist track. We have an 8 year old daughter named Araya. Bonus points if you can guess the heavy metal band that influenced her name! :)
We have an 8 year old daughter who is British and American by passport, was born in France, and has lived in Spain and attended public Spanish School since she was 5. She gets a little confused she is asked where she is from! :)

Books - ideally Elmore Leonard or Lee Child when not reading National Geographic for kids
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
From 2013 to 2018 we did around 45 house sits in Europe, Asia and US, looking after various homes and pets. We travelled full time in this way. Oh how we miss being on the road full time..
I once borrowed hot sauce from ZZ Top's private chef to give to John Paul Jones(Led Zeppelin) at a music festival in France.
Teach, Learn, Share
We love to learn more about our hosts, their experiences and to discover new ways in this world.
We are definitley looking to understand more about Spanish cultures and customs(how do you eat dinner at 11pm??) for example
What I Can Share with Hosts
We are always happy to chip in and help in any way. If you have dogs, we would love to walk them for you. But we LOVE cats too. I'm no cook, but I'm certain I can wash up! We love sharing experiences over a good glass of red too!
