About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I never expect to lose. Even when I'm the underdog, I still prepare a victory speech.

ABOUT ME

I am twenty years old and I am currently a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill majoring in International Studies with a minor and Social and Economic Justice. I love riding my bike and participating in outdoor activities including hiking, running, and playing soccer and basketball. I have a passion for volunteering and working with young kids. I have dreams and plans of pursuing a career in the health field and traveling all over the world to make a difference one step at a time. I have friends from all over the world and I enjoy learning about other cultures. I love traveling and meeting new people! I am very friendly!! I also love to party and have a good time!!

PHILOSOPHY

"If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again."

These are one of my favorite quotes as I think that it is very important to have the perseverance and strength needed to achieve goals that have been set. Ultimately, "life is the sum of all of your choices".

I also believe that one should do unto another person as they would like done unto them because Respect is key to building good relationships.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, I am studying abroad and traveling all over Europe. When I return to North Carolina, I would be more than happy to host people that are interested.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had the most awesome couch-surfing experience in Barcelona, Spain!!! That place is by far the most vibrant city full of exhilaration and life that I have ever visited!! I was so sad when I left. My host took me to a studio where one of my favorite reggae groups were recording with a friend and we went to beautiful restaurants and enjoyed the city!! TOTALLY AWESOME :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all genre of music but I love love love Celine Dion!!I am also a huge reggae fan and I love dancing to that music. I do not watch a lot of TV or movies but I love going to the movies for fun. Out of the past couple of movies that I have seen in the past 6 months, my favorite ones are Inception and Salt. I used to read a lot, but school and work get overwhelming after a while. Also, I promised myself that this year,I would try to read a lot more scholarly articles that focus on development policies and currents news overseas. I am aiming for a Global mindset.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Morocco, I had an amazing opportunity to stay with a Moroccan family in the Medina of Rabat through my program. I learned how to belly dance, cook, and a few Arab words and expressions. It was an awesome experience because I immersed myself in their culture and that is why I really want to couch-surf when I visit countries from now on. I even got to attend a huge engagement celebrations full of awesome traditions.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you plan on traveling to places where you feel out of place due to a language barrier or complete change of culture, just try hard to be receptive to new and different ideas or the opinions of others. Aristotle once said, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." In other words, take advantage of a valuable opportunity to learn something new because it can be a remarkable/rewarding experience.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Spain, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
