Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make a difference in communities around the world affected by disasters
ABOUT ME
I am pretty low key and easy to get along with. I try not to impose on others so you may not know you have a couchsurfer...unless you want company, conversation or entertainment. I enjoy doing many activities both indoor and outdoors rather than being a bump on a log. Really enjoy being with people who enjoy life, their work, and that are "up".
PHILOSOPHY
I consider myself a positive, easy going and non-judgmental person. Don't like mean people, since life moves along, has so much to offer and truly is what you make it. I enjoy visiting new places, cultures, meeting people of all walks and gaining insight and fresh experiences from them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
How I participate... well, I hope to find a small place to rest my head while travelling offered by a kind host who wants to chat a bit about their world and maybe learn about my own as well. I would like to offer the same as a CS friend since I know what it means to have a place to rest and adjust after a journey and in a new place somtimes quite different culturally.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Training wheels on at this point!
Interests
Gosh...languages, culture, the arts, darts, billiards, chess, food from the four corners, adult beverages (to each their own), theater, flix, European football, running, cycling, hiking, climbing, scuba-diving, philosophers, visionaries, concrete reality, people of substance, funny people, bars so small everyone stands, mountain ranges so large you just stand in awe.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music-wise...everything (jazz, classical, techno, rock, and more). As far as books, anything that is not a technical field guide (have far too many)!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed to the top of the Zugspitze high in the German Alps (enjoy my hiking), visited a waxy Lenin in Red Square, saw a blazing sunset in the remote desert on the Afghanistan/Iran border, watched a trio of falcons from a rock ledge on the backside of Pikes Peak, and other experiences that should be put in ink sometime when I put my brakes on for a bit.
Teach, Learn, Share
Having travelling around the world, the best thing I can say it to explore, explore, explore. Whether you have a good guide book (Lonely Planet or other) or not, try to break away from the classic tourist mode and get to know the locals, their food, drink, culture, etc. I really try to understand how they live their lives and how they are culturally different yet similar.
