ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in California. I initially wanted to go to college outside of California to explore a different environment, but I was told Northern California is different from Southern -- so I actually am still in California :(. Luckily, in my 4th year of college, I decided to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and took business courses in English . . . yes, in English!
After my semester in Barcelona, I was traveling throughout Europe for 3 weeks. While visiting several different countries, I was an active couchsurfer :D.
I grew up speaking Cantonese to my parents, went through 10 years of formal schooling for Mandarin, and studied Spanish for 4 years. Unfortunately, I can't read a Chinese newspaper if my life depended on it. I think the general rule for reading the paper is that 2,000 characters need to be learned and I only knew a few hundred (but it's becoming less because I don't apply it). I can get by with Mandarin and Spanish but I can't hold an in depth conversation.
When I see CS, I immediately think counterstrike first and couchsurfing second.
PHILOSOPHY
"When Plan A fails, you move onto Plan B -- you do not recycle Plan A" -- Andre Drazen (24, Season 1)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The only thing that comes to mind is how much I walked with my CounterStrike friends !!
Xevi (approx. 18 hrs of walking/sitting on the bus) -- Sliema, Marsaxlokk, Valletta, Mdina, and Rabat.
Jing (1.5 hrs) -- Walk from her flat to Maastricht city center
Danny (3 hrs) -- within Maastricht city center and long way from city center to apartment
Joe (5 hrs) -- Practically all of Brussels
Tabor (4 hrs) -- Berlin
Juan (4 hrs) -- Paris
Lucas (1 hr, I actually used the metro with him so less walking) -- Paris
Interests
I have a love for street food. It's cheap, quick, simple, and HOT. When I was in NYC for a week, I ate about two hot dogs a day.
And I can't forget about topokki ! I see those carts full of young Koreans wanting a late night snack

Music, Movies, and Books
Shakespeare in Love, Serendipity, Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Black Swan, Hitched, Seven Pounds, Men in Black, I, Robot, Pursuit of Happyness, Sharktale, Hancock (if you've noticed by now, I enjoy movies with Will Smith)
If I've seen a movie once, I don't want to watch it again because I already know what happened !! Don't assume I'd hate it, I just don't prefer it.
Similar to movies, I don't read books twice. My all time favorite book is Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier. I tried reading it again the second time . . . but I was already bored.
To conclude this section, I do not own a DVD or book collection.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Barcelona, Spain is swarming with pickpockets. While living there for 4 months, I had several close encounters, but nothing was ever stolen from me nor was I ever down on the curb crying my eyes out begging for loose change.
Seeing that it's relevant, the most amazing thing I'm proud of is stopping a fool from stealing on the metro
Countries I’ve Visited
