About Me

I'm a young kid, taking advantage of an opportunity to leave regular life behind for a while and see new parts of the world. I have no set direction, speed, or duration of my travels so that I don't miss any opportunities to make new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I left my hometown without much money and plenty of student loans to pay back, so my budget is extremely limited. Couch surfing seems like a way even fairly broke people like me can meet new people when we wander into cities, and maybe avoid sleeping in the streets.

Interests

The love of my life is music- I've been hauling an acoustic guitar across the country in a hard shell case because I can't go long without playing and writing songs.

I'm also a big fan of storytelling. I write in essays and graphic novels myself, but I love a good story in any format.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like quirky movies, a couple favorites being Fantastic Mr. Fox, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and the Lego Movie.

Mark Twain has been my favorite author for quite a while, but I've more recently been burning through the works of the essayist David Sedaris whenever I can get my hands on them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A while ago, I was roadtripping across the central. U.S. with my roommate and a pair of siblings I didn't know very well. While heading through Colorado, there was a fair amount of tension between the siblings over just about everything. We stopped at Great Sand Dunes national park, and before we could even make it to the sand dune, an argument had erupted and the sister was going back to the car to wait/pout because she didn't want to climb the entire dune.

The "amazing thing I've done" part of this story is that the remaining three of us (who had been set on climbing the dunes before sunset) sat down, talked for a second, and ran back to apologize to the sister, and just leave without seeing the landmark if she didn't want to. Humility and forgiveness are amazing.

In the end, she stopped being stubborn too, and we climbed hallway up the dunes singing "you've got a friend in me" and rolled down. I've never been to the top, but I much prefer having gone part of the way only to roll back, since I did it with friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a genuinely helpful person, pretty intelligent, and a quick learner. Whenever I've stayed with anyone, I've done things ranging from helping clean the house and cooking, to helping put a new roof on a shed and replace the floors, to tutoring kids and helping with homework.

I also love to share stories and music!
