About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn all that I can and to pass it on. To eat everywhere and anything(within reason) in every country I visit. Learn about local cuisine. I would like to open a restaurant at some stage in my life as I love to cook.

ABOUT ME

I like getting out into the countryside with my 2 dogs and anybody else that wants to come along is welcome. I like to meet new people and learn about different cultures and to try and find the similarities between them. Irish people have a dark and humorous side which non-Irish take at face-value sometimes literally. It is best described in this way: We slag(deride) our closest friends and family, but we praise our enemies. It's messed up, I know, but it is part of the Irish psyche. No subject is taboo, we try to find humour in all matters, and the darker the humour, the better. Music, Cinema from all over the world.

PHILOSOPHY

I respect other peoples beliefs/philosophies. I might not agree with them but I love a good debate. It's the only way to learn about yourself and others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I help out where and when I can, whether you are a couchsurfer or not.If you are up for a 20km trek with me and the dogs. If you like dogs or not, they will like you. We have 2 dogs in the house,Coco and Sophie. A bike ride into the city or countryside, both are easy. We live on the edge of the city, with the Dublin/Wicklow mountains as our back garden.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been hosting since February 2011. So far we have hosted over 300 people since then. It´s been a great experience so far.

Interests

Cycling, languages, history, geography, science. World cuisine. Travel. Music and Cinema from around the world.Hiking with my 2 dogs up in the Dublin/Wicklow mountains(Hills).

Music, Movies, and Books

Like most types of music and movies,I have a decent amount of world music and films. Books-fact,fiction,history,geography,scientific,Science fiction, fantasy, horror, war and western. I like live music. Dublin has a great live music tradition. There are many bands and styles of music to see, not just traditional Irish music(Temple Bar). Check out Mongrel Sweeney´s on Dame Street, Whelan´s on Wexford Street and The Grand Social on Liffey Street, Fibber´s Rock Bar on Ormond Quay as well if you are ever in Dublin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rock climbing/trekking in Killary Harbour over bog-land, 1st time I cycled to Glendalough. Cycling through the north-west of Spain on part of the Camino de Santiago.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like learning about where a person is from and their view-points on life and to share my knowledge of Ireland with them whether it´s on literature, music etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
