About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My motto is "I help people find their voice". My second motto is "never do for your children what they can do for themselves".
ABOUT ME
Two of our seven children are married and have given us 4 beautiful grandchildren between them, one in heaven and the rest live in Sydney, Melbourne and touring around the country. My husband and I yearn for a quiet life and have moved to a farm in East Gippsland, Victoria, where we grow vegetables & beef with the assistance of wonderful "workawayers" from all over the world, and operate a BnB.
PHILOSOPHY
Make the world a better place by the time you leave it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As my son, Nick, has, on our behalf, hosted more couchsurfers than I now remember - at our home - I thought I'd log on myself too. In 2014 my daughter, Mariette, and I did some couchsurfing in the UK. Now I'm about to visit an ailing cousin in the Netherlands and may need to find alternative accommodation, depending on her health.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Two memorable experiences in the UK in 2014 with our daughter...in Nottingham and in Porlock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The best year of my life was when my husband and I took our then five children in a bus done up as a mobile home around outback Australia for 15 weeks. We called ourselves "Seven Little Australians" and our motto was "Querentes perspicientia" - "in search of understanding". We found it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching people how to confidently express themselves with words, gesture and voice. Communicating one's message orally is a vital life skill.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a Dutch ex-pat who can't get my homeland out of my blood. I also love the country I've lived in most of my life, Australia. Anyone I stay with will benefit from my extensive knowledge of "Down Under" (I've travelled around a fair bit, including the outback) and would be MOST welcome to come and stay on our farm if ever they travel to our wonderful, sunburnt country.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, Fiji, Germany, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Palestine, Singapore, Solomon Islands, United Kingdom, Vatican City State
