About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've guided a few Japanese and American guys while I lived in Budapest, Hungary, and I couchsurfed in Quebec, Canada. I think couchsurfing is a great way to experience the real local life in any place, instead of staying on the shallow traveler level. I must say though that it takes time to find a good match between surfers and hosts, and hence I only use couchsurfing when I have more time to organize a trip. :)
As I am currently in a one-room apartment in Bangkok unfortunately I'm unable to host travelers. Once I get back to the Netherlands and get settled in an apartment, I will consider doing so. :)
Interests
Sustainable ways of living, running, languages - translating, good beer, funny people, vegan cooking, etc.
Music, Movies, and Books
MOVIES: Silver linings playbook, Now you see me, 50-50,
MUSIC: I'm too busy to make my own playlists
BOOKS: Recently I'm into Murakami Haruki's books and books on moral philosophy and ethics.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbing Acatenango volcano in Guatemala and seeing Fuego volcano erupt in the night.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have considerable travel experiences from 5 continents and some language skills (English, Dutch, Hungarian) to share. I have also worked in a kitchen for 3.5 years so I can cook pretty decent and as a vegan I can share some interesting vegan cooking hacks.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can prepare Hungarian/Dutch food for those interested and I'm eager to share my travel stories or some tips and recommendations if you would like to travel to Europe or other places I've been to.
Otherwise we can always share a good laugh, a refreshing beer or a board game marathon. :) If we end up going out together I can cover any costs occurring to you (entry tickets, drinks etc.)
