About Me

Myer Briggs says I'm an INTJ and there are only 8 female INTJs in a 1000 people. So we are pretty rare and that should be interesting right? :D

I'm not a natural risk-taker and it's something I've had to push myself to do over the years (even if it were just a little each time). A solid RTW trip is the dream in the next few years...if I finally summon all my courage and believe that someone who is not the cookie-cutter globetrotter cum backpacker can do it well.

Life is mysterious, cruel and above all, unpredictable. I wish for everyone to live their authentic self, however they define it, and never quit the good fight!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like most, to meet different people and hear their stories. I can only experience one life as it unfolds, so I'm always curious how it was/is for others? It takes time to know another and couchsurfers, by nature of this community, are people with demonstrable interest in other people.

Then, I'm into slow travel and I really hate feeling rushed all the time to hit the big sights. I fancy ticking items off the must-see list but recognise there is also tremendous beauty in the paths less travelled. It would be a plus for me if my host had time to hang out or show me some cool spots. But if not, all alright as well :)

Not a party animal really; I prefer to hang out, relax after a long day out and have conversations with my hosts in the evenings.

Interests

I'm a little bit interested in everything; there are so many things I want to learn and do, but am painfully aware that I'm not a maverick.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmm I am still addicted to old Calvin Harris. Back when he had dark hair. The new ones are good but the old ones are BETTER - flashback, stars come out, ready for the weekend. The videos were odd and delicious. But generally I'm all over the place with music - more alternative, indie, electronica, soul, hip hop, jazz, j-pop and j-rock XD Currently listening most to Honne, Postmodern Jukebox, Two Door Cinema Club. I want recommendations!

I maintain an IMDB list (1100 now, probably hit that by end of the year). I love movies; it's probably easier for me to tell you I don't favour lame rom-coms, unrealistic endings and vapid stories. If it shouldn't be a happy ending, then please don't force it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most recent season, volunteering to bring a random stranger who took the same gondola ride with me up the ski resort, for 2 backcountry runs. First time for him! This only happened because I was bored riding alone - frankly I'm amazed he trusted me, fully-masked asian girl who is strangely enthusiastic, to bring him around.

Also buying air tickets to New Zealand 2 weeks before flying and then staying for 9 months.

Teach, Learn, Share

To teach what little I know, to learn as much as possible and share everything I can!
- Languages/Culture: English, Mandarin, Japanese (we can practice!)
- Personal travel stories
- Snowboarding
- Basic lindy hop - my new thing
- Good conversations (deep, philosophical ones if the occasion is right hah)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have cooked for hosts before and I don't think it did any justice to the kind of food we have here in Singapore (and this was with the luxury of using premixes). My friends were of course very kind and appreciative but hmm...Guess the biggest sell is probably just myself, my energy and my own stories :)

Can help with chores, simple dinner, washing up .etc But I'll draw the line at anything of a sexual nature.

We meet as equals, as friends who have yet to become :)
