About Me

Dutch/Australian. Love a good adventure. Love my outdoor activities. The beach is home. Bare feet, a singlet, shorts and a pair of flip flops anyday. I work for the Australian government and we are currently putting earth monitoring equipment every 50kms on a square grid across the whole of Australia. I drive to whatever sites I can in a 4x4 and what we cant access we use helicopters. I've seen alot of Australia so if your curious about the Land Down Under I'm happy to share my insight.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

From a young age we moved fifteen times or more before I graduated high school. I've lived in small towns, cities and remote Aboriginal communities. I fell into a job that requires me to work all over Australia and travel abroad. I have a large family spread across a variety of countries that all travel. Which is a total blessing, it's literally couchsurfing without having to sign up. My next trip always presents itself in the form of a family milestone or overdue catchup or work serves me up something exciting. It's always kind of been like this and I love it. I've been on this journey where my big trips have kind of chosen me. So Couchsurfing is perfect in a way. Can't wait to see what's in store next. I'm mostly on couch surfing for the experience. I love the idea that you can crash at someone's house and hopefully see the best of a destination through their insight and then potentially return the gesture. It's a great formula. It's always exciting when you have someone visit your hometown and you suddenly feel like a tourist in your own city. You go out and explore things you wouldnt normally and inturn your guests are more "in the know" and therfore get an experience they wouldn't normally get.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything from Gypsie Kings to Bring me the Horizon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I jumped out of a plane with my own parachute on my first skydive. My foot clipped the door on the way out and I backflipped and tumbled all the way from 10,000 to 5000 feet before my instructor caught up to me and pulled my parachute cord. Not a very graceful intro to skydiving but a fun story to tell.
