Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a student house with 4 other people, we are all very happy to welcome travelers in our home, it is a bit small, but very gezellig

On my last trip (hitchhiking from the Netherlands to Egypt) I used couchsurfing a lot for information, acomodation, and meeting people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The best thing about couchsurfing is that you never really know what you are getting yourself into. But you know one thing: it always an interesting experience! I had a few bad (but interesting) experiences, but most of the times you meet lovely people. Even at places you dont expect it.

Interests

I love traveling off course! I love the feeling of being in a train or bus and watching the landscape go by not knowing what your destiantion is going to be like. I love watching people, how they talk, how they laugh, how they behave, how they dress.................
When I am not traveling I like to start planning my next trip :-D. In the mean time, just meeting up with friends, going to the pub, and making life fun!

Music, Movies, and Books

Traveling alone for a while made me appreciate the value of books again. Books can be your best friend when you are on the road, and I started to see the beauty and power of the written word. Being in China made it sometimes a little bit difficult to get my hands on foreign books on subjects that interest me. Luckily I managed to find some interesting books through book-exchange in hostels. Some of my favorites are written by Paolo Coehlo. I have read 4 of his books, and The witch of portobello is my favorite now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Pff, there are so many things that I think are amazing. Riding my bike to work after a long winter and hearing the birds sing again. Doing experiments at the laboratory and be amazed by how quick bacteria grow. But I suppose this section is more about traveling-related things so that other people can also do or see this particular amazing thing.
my list would be:
Flying a hot-air ballon in Yangshuo China.
Diving in the red sea, Dahab Egypt.
Driving through the Mongolian desert for two weeks.
Vipassana meditation course.

Teach, Learn, Share

If there is one thing I would like to share with the world it is Vipassana meditation. It teaches you a wonderful technique that will give you more peace and happiness. There are centers all over the world where you can take a course, free off charge. courses last for 10 days, it is hard work and you have to be committed to it, but the results are amazing!
