About Me

I'm a friendly person, eager to meet new people and show them around my beautiful hometown. Romanians are generally friendly and welcoming people, so I guess nothing new there :) As far back as I know, I've always enjoyed sharing with others the little things of our daily lives (right now, having breakfast with my parents is among my top favorite things). Common motto: sharing is caring.

. What else? I lived in the United States for 6 years, so I'm more used to Western culture.

My apartment has a pretty cool view of some hills, some streets and the sunrise.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why...
To share experiences and help people find accommodation.
Explore places without requiring a lot of planning ahead and money.

No boundaries, no borders!!

Interests

So, what else can I say about myself? I love sunsets and walks in the park. I try really hard to get better at playing my guitar (work in progress!), I dance as much as I can, and I am a self-proclaimed movie buff.

Music, Movies, and Books

One of my favorite books is One hundred years of Solitude by GG Marquez. I really love Marquez's style of magical realism and I have a passion for Haruki Murakami and the universes that he builds.
I wish I had more time to read...

I'm into indie rock bands, and generally into rock, jazz, and classical. Stuff I listen to: Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Philip Glass, Nicu Alifantis, MacDeMarco, Tame Impala, Tom Waits, Yann Tiersen, Paco de Lucia, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Fleet Foxes, She & Him, Depeche Mode, St. Vincent, David Bowie. Classics like the Doors and Pink Floyd are a must. Of, course, I'm open to a lot of stuff out there.

Movies: I really like Waking Life, Boyhood, and the Before sunrise, sunset, midnight series by Richard Linklater and he's one of my favorite directors. I have been touched and changed by Fellini's and Bergman's movies (among other classics). That being said, I always like an easy, fun comedy and I often go to the cinema with my friends and have a laugh at the plot, the characters, and whatever...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a few and I can't decide in between them so here they are:

- I learned to be more humble and more caring toward other people's needs. This lesson was learned in college, while adapting to the stressful life there and also to the new environment that my adoptive country USA provided.

- I once swam the across the Danube river in Vienna with a friend of mine. Sure, that part of the river wasn't particularly wide, but I still swam quite a bit, a storm was coming, and we were attacked by some swans toward the end.

-Decided to move to a new city in the last minute I could possibly do so, cancelling already made plans. I applied to various grad programs across US, and my favorite one didn't have funds for me. I had a deadline to decide so I decided for a school that was pretty good but wasn't my favorite. On the very last day that I could decide, I found out that I received a job and funds for my studies from my favorite school. I cancelled everything else, and moved to Seattle. I lived there for a year and a half.

Teach, Learn, Share

I wrote a lot about myself in the previous posts. I am curious if people have patience to read and reach this point.

Congratulations if you reached this part of my CS "resume" !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share info about Oradea and Romania, and some food. I have a nice couch to sleep, but unfortunately it's for one person only.

I truly hope to share a sense of openness and friendliness, sharing each other's culture, respecting boundaries, being aware of each other's needs, and cherishing the time spent together. Such values should be true for all Couch Surfing members :)

OK, enough with the preaching already, but you get my point!

Hope to see you and make the best of it :)
