About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To suck the marrow out of life while writing that book, You know the one. Yea that one. Choosing happiness and autonomy.

My dream is to one day buy a village in Spain or Portugal for my family & friends to come to live in harmony with nature and grow our own food. I feel the time has come for us as humans to get back to the basics and live the way of our ancestors and working together as a community, The sum of our total making us greater than our individual parts. Dreamer? I'm an Aquarian from the 60's

ABOUT ME

Dorlon "dory" Dutton

Recovering mortgage broker turned stand-up comedian! I prefer making people spit beer through their noses to banking. Originally from Mobile, Alabama, raised in Houston, Texas. Crossed the Atlantic in May of 2002 for a summer job and never made it back home. Spent six years in Munich before moving to London in late 2007. Moved to Poland in 2017. I love it! Everything! At present, I teach Presentation skills and conversational English.

PHILOSOPHY

To spread Love, Light and Laughter

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To take over the world! And fill it with kindness.

Interests

I am boring. I love books! I love rainy Sunday afternoons in bed with a good book.

Backgammon! And a bottle of dry red.

Cannabis! I'm an advocate for the legalization of medical cannabis and recreational use. If this offends you, don't bother contacting me, we won't get along. I'll consider you to be a gullible sheep who bought the propaganda big business hypnotized you with and you'll think of me as a fucking hippie.

Cycling is my form of transport because it's faster and cheaper. I was a swimmer all my life and miss falling into a body of water first thing in the morning. One of these days..

Music, Movies, and Books

I let the other people pick the film. I make the popcorn.
uhm, okay;
P'tang, Yang, Kipperbang - a feel-good film to make the heart smile
Four Lions - hysterical!
I'm more of a documentary junkie

Books, oh my, I will read anything I can get my hands on. The past few months I've read a few page-turners;

House of Leaves - Mark Danielewski
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer
Black Water; the Flamingo anthology of FANTASTIC LITERATURE - Alberto Manguel

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snapped like a twig and walked away from the corporate world of mortgage banking to travel.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can teach:

presentation skills and public speaking as well help with delivery and confidence. In my corporate days I did a great deal of public speaking and became a Toastmaster (Toastmaster's is a fantastic program to learn to be a public speaker. Teach your butterflies to fly in formation). I taught Financial English and Presentation skills to fund my move to London.

Learn: I want to learn Spanish, but feel I'm a language idiot. My German is appalling. I'm ashamed for not learning the language.

I collect interesting people mostly artists, musicians, poets, filmmakers, photographers. guess you could say I make up my lack of artistic and music skills by surrounding myself with very talented people. I also collect IT nerds. They're cool AF and will be running the show in the future.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food! I am a foodie and love prepare delicious and nutritious meals. Food is medicine, but it doesn't have to taste like it.

I know a little bit about many things and love to share knowledge and learn from others. I believe we are all connected.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Mexico, Poland, Slovakia, Virgin Islands, British, Virgin Islands, U.S.

Countries I’ve Lived In
