CURRENT MISSION
the art of feeling naked in your clothes
ABOUT ME
I have done everything I possibly could to experience as much of the world I could in the past few years. I've managed to travel a good deal- worked at NATO in Brussels, was an English teacher in a small South Korean village, spent 7 months in Africa, explored Petra and helped Palestinian refugees. Its strange to write these things down because I still feel like I haven't processed them- the experiences are not "mine" yet. And I think a huge reason for that is because I have spent so much time alone in airports, alone in hotels, and while I have always felt close to the culture/people of the place I am in I've rarely traveled "with" someone. I think what attracts me to couchsurfing (aside from the awesome people I've met so far) is the idea that I could share some of these experiences with someone who might understand. That idea makes me happy.
PHILOSOPHY
Gene Weingarter's 'Pearls before Breakfast' combined with a dash of Buddhism, a bit of idealism, and a great deal of poetry
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I spent two years of traveling and working for a nonprofit organizing medical charity trips. While I LOVED it, I have not taken the opportunity to travel to just experience where I am. I hope to change that. And I would be more than happy to show people around my area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was surprised to find out I enjoy hosting as much as I do surfing! It's great fun to introduce someone new to places you love around your city. I've hosted once and surfed once. I am looking forward to future experiences!
Interests
I love reading (currently reading Abraham Verghase and an Iranian history by Stephen Kinzer), an amateur but enthusiastic cook, and loyal sister and daughter. I can't imagine my time being better spent than over a glass of red wine and a beautiful view outside. I prefer to sleep with the windows open. I'm passionate about international development, the protection of refugees, and women's rights. I'm a lover of history. I practice yoga, run, and can ride my bike for hours. I think the best way to sightsee is to get lost.
