About Me

I've always loved travelling in a very spartan style: rode my bicycle around Europe, living in a tent for 6 months (1982); rode my bicycle around the world, living in a tent for 15 months (1984-85), lived in my VWVan for over two years, travelling the US and Canada (1990's); travelled all over South East Asia (mostly Vietnam) for over a year (2010-2012), inclding riding a motorbike I bought in China over the Himalayas from Lhasa to Kathmandu (plus Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, and more) - staying in cheap but great little hotels. Now I'm back on a motorbike, travelling all over the west of Canada, US, and a bit of Mexico.

When I'm not travelling I've worked on space hardware (incl Hubble Space Telescope) at the Space Sciences Lab, plus I wrote and sold guitar music software and developed other software ideas, plus started a company in Vietnam (I lived there 6 years). Now I'm working on a wonderful social networking idea which I've developed - an antidote to the harmful networks we have now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been living in my tent quite happily for the last year as I explored the western US and Canada. But while spending the winter in Mexico I developed a social networking idea (Philosophical/Social Salons - PSS) which is now fully implemented. I want to go to various cities (mostly university towns) to explain the concept behind PSS, how it will be an antidote to the harmful effects of most current social media, and to encourage people to use it. While I'm in those cities it will be hard to camp, so I'm hoping people will put me up for a night or two while I'm on my mission to promote PSS (from which I don't make any money, by the way).
