ABOUT ME

I spent my youth in the beautiful but cold (northern) state of Maine, USA. After graduating, I did a year of volunteer service with the AmeriCorps program. I then lived in our nation's capital, Washington, DC where I did all sorts of terrible, soul-crushing business-type jobs until I got fed up and quit to volunteer for the 2008 Barack Obama presidential campaign.

Next I moved to the West Coast of the USA, to Portland, Oregon, where I worked doing more terribly boring business jobs (yuck!).

My last 12 Months:

*Become listless in Portland, quit a stable, well-paying job, wander off.

*10-day Vipassana meditation retreat in Washington state. Regain focus, enthusiasm for life.

*6-month road trip across the USA (75 stops, 10,000 miles). Catch up with old friends, make new ones. Expel wanderlust.

*300 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail. Commune with nature, hippies.

*Rekindle nostalgia for Portland, return to much fanfare and riotous applause. Stay for six months before becoming bored again.

*Late one night, on the spur of the moment, buy a plane ticket to Manila

* Now: ????

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to CouchSurfing when I moved in with CSing roommates here in Portland, Oregon, USA. We've hosted many people, all positive experiences, unfortunately our most exotic international visitors were from Canada...

On the upside, we have converted 2 (TWO!!) different CouchSurfers into permanent housemates! One still lives with us, one lived with us for 6 months and now lives with good friends of ours across town. I think this means we're good hosts!

Interests

I like to talk to people and hear what their life is about.
