About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life well and to be kind to everyone. To be curious and always be learning and discovering. I believe everyone has a story. I do my part to make the world a little kinder, more beautiful, and a more just place than I found it.

ABOUT ME

Kindness, Learning, Charity/Compassion, Beauty, Creativity, and Faith are words that frame my life.

I have traveled to over 60 countries. I have been running my small non-profit in East Africa for over 20 years - ADEA (African Development through Education and the Arts). I am open-minded. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and with different world views. I love deep conversations on any topic. I am inspired by creativity; I love a good dinner party. I enjoy singing and dancing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My current traveling life prevents me from hosting in Kenya. I hope that will change soon (I am planning to build a small house on a hill that overlooks Mt. Kilimanjaro.

I have had great experiences when couch surfing. Hamburg, Germany; Mexico City; Lisbon, Portugal, South Africa. After so many travels, I look forward to staying with locals, enjoying a meal or cafe as much as taking in the sights.

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived and worked in East Africa since 2003!

I skied in the Swiss Alps in July,

I had an unforgettable midnight date on Signal Hill overlooking the night lights of Cape Town.

I drank goat blood with my Maasai friends,

I scuba dove at the Palanquar Reef in Mexico.

I helped launch the MaKuYa Traditional Performing Arts Festival in Mtwara, Tanzania,

Teach, Learn, Share

I am happy to teach Swahili - (I can teach French and Spanish)

I enjoy cooking my special East African Dish - which I named Swahili Pilau made with spices from Zanzibar.

I can teach salsa and swing dancing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Countless stories about life in Africa! The joys and hardships of the beautiful Maasai people with whom I partner.

As an interior designer, conversations on design sometimes lead to rearranging the furniture!

I am happy to pitch in and help my host in any way I can.
