About Me
What is important to me is the idea of 'contribution.' We can't all change the world, rise as a world leader, and make a universal impact, but what we CAN do is change OUR world, and contribute in the local (but very significant) way. Whether it's just being kind, or developing some technology that in a career which improved the quality of lives of some people, every bit of contribution helps. Alternatively, I'd phrase this moral guideline as "don't be an asshole," and do a bit of good in the meantime :)
I'm an open-minded fellow who is just trying to make his way through life, as we all are.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling, and love meeting new people, quite simply. Even though bad experiences with people obviously happen, I believe, among open-minded people, no matter what they think of themselves or are told by society, they've got plenty of value, and have a lot to offer and share.
Having read the brunt of my profile: It is nice to know that you actually took the time to read my profile before applying. Please verify this by starting your request with 'Let's get jiggy with it.' (or post a link to your favorite song if that feels too ridiculous)
Interests
I'm pretty much interested by anything I lend an ear to, or do, for long enough.
Slacklining is the coolest thing I'd say I'm into.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a huge Jazz fan. Both vocals (e.g. Chet Baker) and instrumental jazz (e.g. Coltrane). I've always have some jazz song stuck in my head, tempting me to sing. Besides Jazz, I still like a lot of music. I keep a pretty orderly Spotify and am always looking for new tunes.
Genres: Bossanova, jazz, bolero, flamenco, and whatever Natalia Lafourcade is.
Not much of a movie or TV person.
For books, I like Vonnegut and the likes. Books that blur the line, that's already quite grey, between laughing and tragedy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I met a (very sweet) old slovenian lady who convinced me to change my trip plans to come visit her, who then pointed me and my partner with whom I was traveling to visit a place in her country called "Lake Bled." In spending some time at the lake, I grew very anxious to climb up a cliff atop which was a monastery-castle. With just a few hours left till my bus back to Alojzija's house, I gave it a climb, and came across two, absolutely beautiful, things, right in sequence. The first was the view atop the ledge of the castle- Bled was a little village, framed by the Alps, bathed in the orange-purple of dusk, dotted with little people finishing up their days. The second was happened upon because I wanted to see the rest of the monastery- up the stairs, turning the corner, I happened upon a concert, playing to an intimate audience of ~30, amidst the warm weather, comfortable smiles, and sweet, sweet Champagne. The Woman who was the centerpiece of the band was absolutely radiant- if the view that was now yielded by just turning around (as I sat on the castle-cliff's ledge) wasn't enough to convince me that, Yes, there are in fact pieces of Heaven illuminating our muddy planet, then this woman's performance sealed the deal. Her voice, charisma, joy- they just melted me. If I could choose one moment to freeze time and feel forever, it would be that moment- with Bled in the background, the girl I once loved to my side, and a singer whose melody was shaking my soul , right in front of me. Yes, that was genuinely, for me, amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about science- I'm obsessed, really. If you want me to pick apart any question/curiosity with peer-reviewed literature, that's my business. I can also help with english, having spent many hours doing so for a dear friend.
I keep a close eye on my opinions, and like to have substantive conversation about the goings-on of the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good company, good manners, and hopefully, good conversation. I'm a very cleanly (and guilty) person, and would love to help prepare dinner, clean up after it (I'm a "dishes by hand" kind of guy), or any sort of chore.
