À propos de moi

I'm a single dad with two kids. For the first time in 8 years, they are living with their mother during the school year. On July 1st, I go to get them once I have found a new job and a new place to live. That is the central focus of my life.

Beyond that, I am a friendly, outgoing person. I'm a good listener. I'm good at getting people to try crazy new things like dancing. I tend to leave scads of friends in my wake. I love meeting new people, learning new things, trying new foods and new things.

I am an adult, and clean up after myself. I even come with my own portable laundry hamper. I have an air mattress and as a dancer, I'm used to setting up with just some floor space. I have my own towel.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I'm a swing dancer and that has taken me to many couches. Recently, I decided to uproot myself from Richmond, Virginia, and move to Nashville, Tennessee. I decided to explore the US and Canada first though, and have been travelling for a few weeks. Some friends suggested I try out couch surfing for when I want to stay in a place where I don't know anyone.

Centres d'intérêt

Dancing. All the dancing. All the time. One summer I decided to take a class (ask me the story, it's a good one.) I am a Lindy Hopper, but I also do Charleston, Balboa, and Blues. I'm learning Salsa and St. Louis Shag.

I'm a computer geek. I like outdoor activities like hiking and camping. I play guitar
(mainly folk songs, campfire songs and church music, learning some jazz).

I am a black belt in tae kwon do, and was an instructor for 10 years.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I'm really into jazz music right now. Jazz from the 30s and 40s, not smooth jazz. I'm into that kind of music because I like dancing to it, but I generally enjoy most types of music.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Princess Bride, Star Wars (the originals), A Walk to Remember, Definitely Maybe, Must Love Dogs

The Icarus Hunt by Timothy Zahn is my favorite book. A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold is probably tied with first. I love science fiction and fantasy.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I got laid off and decided I wanted to become a blacksmith. So while I looked for a job, I volunteered at the Museum of American Frontier Culture as an 18th century Irish blacksmith. I joined a local blacksmith guild, and did blacksmithing in an old Irish forge while I talked to tourists and school groups and told them about growing up as an Irish farmer wanting to emigrate to America in the 1700s.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I can teach you how to dance, how to cook a yummy meal, self defense techniques, or help you with computer questions.

I love to learn new things - especially dancing of any kind.

I'm happy to share knowledge, food, my friends and my time. I love getting to know new people.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I am a fantastic cook. I love to make food for people. I make a pretty mean french omelette.

Generally I end up sharing my conversation. I have a wide range of interests, and I'm a good listener.
