Über mich

I've been living in istanbul for the last 4-5 years doing stuff. I like to think of myself as an easygoing person who can try to understand what's going on and empathize.

for the last 3 years, i have been in grad school, doing sociology of e-sports (electronic sports). if you are a professional player, or any kind of actor from the industry, or just interested about it hit me up!

i now live in eugene, oregon, usa. doing phd and stuff about the same topic.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Couchsurfing is a great way to sincerely interact with people from all over the world, share experiences and establish bounds and whatever, you know all that cliche stuff.

adding to that: also, i use couchsurfing as a way of sharing. sharing my place for others to sleep without them needing to pay money anywhere else. sometimes i just might not be in the mood to connect or you could be feeling like just laying back and not talking, so it is totally okay if you use my place as an accommodation, not as a way of cultural exchange and whatever.

on a final note, if i will want to chill with you in the city or not will definitely depend on my work schedule and my mood!

Musik, Filme und Bücher

reggae, dub, electronic music with some sweet tunes, ethnic, many turkish stuff.

too many to count but a cheesy one to go here could be salinger's catcher in the rye. it's the book that actually made me love reading. re-reading this part again, i realized i am lying. catcher in the rye is not the book that made me love reading, it is either crime and punishment or the little black fish. anyways, i can say i like stuff that can deliver humanly or worldly feelings, contradictions, relations, obscurities with a provocative story.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

hitchhiked from izmir to barcelona. at one point i waited more than 16 hours, pushed my chances and spent the night sleeping there, the first car came up the next morning gave me a ride to the exact place i wanted 600 kms away.

lived on dumpster diving just to see how it was and whether if i could do it after learning some tricks from someone who only lived by dumpster diving and yeah it's actually pretty fun and doable. (this is in 2018: lol, i donno when i wrote the previous part [about dumpster diving], probably several years ago. weird how we change over time. i said it was fun and doable. how immature. i mean, as a political or an activist practice dumpster diving is for sure an honorable and fascinating way to live, but fun? i mean i can understand why i called it fun but there are millions out there who are "forced to" live through waste and i consider it fun because i got to live "their way" for a couple of months. haha. stupid me.)
