About Me

CURRENT MISSION

It's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be. -Paul Arden

ABOUT ME

My name is David and here is my story: I am a native mountain boy, fond of backpacking trips in the backwoods of Montana. I have dual citizenship with Germany from my mother's side and have spent over 5 years in Germany, during which time I became addicted to traveling, soccer and basically anything that opens my eyes to new ideas/cultures. I love that every time I meet new people and visit new places the world becomes smaller and people more similar. I believe that while different cultures breed people with different ideas and quirks, we all have the same fundamental values, curiosities and passions. I have made it my life's mission to gain as many experiences as I can, see as many places as possible and meet as many different people as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is about challenging yourself in everything you do. I have come to realize that if you sit around playing things safe you will miss out on what life really has to offer.
Share those experiences with others. A special moment to yourself is fine, but shared with another person makes it ten times better.
Be open to others ideas and views, even if you don't agree.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think anytime you are given the chance to open up your home and town to a traveler you not only create a better memory of the place for that person, but you also take experience from the traveler. Any time I am able to offer a place for someone to stay I will not hesitate. And of course I will be using the program as a surfer myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my time in Hamburg, Germany my roommate and I had several CouchSurfers who staid at our place. Each was as interesting as the next with great stories and open minds.

Couch surfing has been a great resource for whenever I need a place to stay on short notice, be that visiting a city for a job interview, or taking advantage of a long layover during a flight.

Interests

Traveling, soccer, music (listening, playing guitar/piano), reading, painting, meeting new people, cooking, hanging out with good friends, backpacking, hiking, skiing, etc. My interests grow on a daily basis.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't think I should even start this list. I listen to every genre of music and each has its place depending on the atmosphere. The same goes for movies. As for books, I will admit to being a bit of a nerd and liking science-fiction and fantasy novels, anything that really pushes my imagination and lets me get lost in another world in a way that no movie can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am lucky enough to boast an impressive travel resume for my age. I have lived in Germany for over 5 years of my life and have travelled most of Europe, from Spain to Hungary and in between as well as USA, Canada and Mexico. The only problem is that traveling is addicting and the more I see, the more I realize I still have to see!

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe teaching and learning go hand in hand, so any sort of exchange of knowledge ranging from traveling the world to music taste to playing music to cooking, the list goes on.
