Currently, I am studying history and English at the University of Bielefeld in order to eventually become a high school teacher. My studying has been taking some time as I am also doing a lot of other things.
I am also a musician (upright bass) and I more or less get by with some gigs and concerts. I play in various bands and from time to time take up different projects and also compose. Mostly Jazz influenced music.
I already have some experience in teaching and am looking forward to finish my degree to finally start the job. My idea is to then work half-time so I can keep up the music making.
My third big thing in life is bike riding. I love to go road or moutain biking in the area around my city and when I have time I make longer bike trips, camping or visiting friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My first contact with Couchsurfing was when I was hitchhiking through Europe with my main-man David from the States. Most of the time we just slept outside like bums, but sometimes we had the joy to be hosted and to hang out with great people of which we met many through Couchsurfing. Since then I did some Couchsurfing when I was biking through France and from time to time I was even able to host. I always had very nice couchsurfers as guests and I am still surprised people are coming to Bielefeld at all ;-).

Interests

A lot of my lifetime I spent making music. That is, because I love it so much. I play the double bass, the guitar and a little bit of piano and percussion. Mostly jazz, but I'm up for anything elso, too.

I do read a lot and enjoy listening to just any kind of music (I love to get to know new music). Sportswise, I boxed for a long time (up for some sparring at any time ;-)) but now my main thing is biking. I do a lot of road biking around my city and also go on longer bike trips. That's where Couchsurfing gets useful.

Recently, I started acting a little bit. Played in a couple of short films and that was a lot of fun and a great personal experience. I hope to get more opportunities to go further into that in the future.

Most of all I enjoy the company of humane humans. I dig talking, singing, dancing, drinking, getting bored and everything else you can do together.
