About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Studying Portuguese after a break, Portuguese speaker feel free to hit me up! :)

ABOUT ME

Hello, unknown friend!

My Polish name is Karol, but people call me Charlie.

A few years ago I Graduated from Emergency Medical Services (B.Sc). For one semester I studied in Turkey as Erasmus exchange program student. I also underwent internships in Lisbon, Portugal. Eventually, I graduated from Public Health (M.Sc) in Łódź, Poland. Due to the curiosity of the world I've never worked in my field.

At both universities I was involved in student's exchange programs as a tutor/ a helper of incoming students from entire Europe and Russian-speaking countries of Asia. That brought me joy and gave an opportunity to interact with people I would normally never run into in typical daily routine of life.

Accustomed to company of different nations I don't believe in social and cultural stereotypes, and I like to look for the good in everyone. I like to make fun of stereotypes tho, but only for humorous purposes!

Good job reading! If you went this far trough boring part, I think it's a good time to warn you about my sense of humor. I appreciate good laughter and I like to joke around. Even if the joke's on me, that's fine as long as everyone's laughing. I happen to be grumpy in the morning, that a recipe of sarcasm injection. If you consider yourself politically correct snowflake, it's time to click away.

Goofy and smart at the same time. How that's possible? Training hard, partying hard (ow yeah it's one of Erasmus tutor's responsibilities) and studying hard with proper results (in short time when deadlines chase). Impossible is nothing. I could combine both. I don't party anymore. Don't see why? Is it the lack of opportunities in Iceland or my recovery is not as good as in my prime?

In wintertime, I swim in icy water (winters in Poland are likely to be severe, my record lowest temperature when I came in to the water was 17 Celsius degree below zero). Highly recommended! It keeps me salted, healthy and fit entire winter even without developing on runny nose. It's not only physical, but spiritual training also- it's priceless when you go out from hole in ice and feel indestructible.

Another warning! I am an addict. Don't worry much, nothing harmful to my surroundings. My the only addiction is sport. Can't picture my life without it.
For years, I've been a member and working activist of Academic Sports Association.
I've represented my University 8x in sports competitions with high score, four times in Academic Championship of Poland in running, cross-country running, sealing and rowing.
Nowadays I'm a total gym nerd, and part time personal trainer.

Huge animals fancier! I used to own a lot of pets: from arachnids to reptiles, but from all of them I miss the most Homer the duckling. It was fantastic animal I had adopted from street. I become Duck Mom at the time and if you think your dog loves you, I guarantee you duck child love is stronger. That explain the rubber duckling in my shower, if you ever wonder...

My latest hobby is photography, film making and video editing. I am also flying a drone. I think it's too soon for show off with my YouTube channel here (only 2 subscribers so far, including my mama hahhahaha!), but I can send you a link if you are curious. I suck at photography and my video editing is limited to making funny videos from trips. But hey! Who said you have to be good at hobby?

Hmm I think that's enough- now, your turn! Tell me your story! :)))))

PHILOSOPHY

I'm trying just about everything at least once to have a somewhat qualified opinion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As you can see from my reviews I love to host and have meaningful interaction with my surfers. Often go for a trip together or join activities, especially if you don't rent a car. I don't run free hostel. This is not place to crash and hit the road. For the sake of community I rather host people who open their house for strangers too.

Interests

Film making, photography, exotic arthropods and animals, night life, fitness, running, snowboard, swimming and as everyone here traveling.
