About Me

I study computer science and I am spending an exchange semester in New Jersey right now.

I love to move. I am getting passionate about swimming right now, but special place in my hart has orienteering – running through a forest with a map, occasionally at night. And yoga. I always forget about it, but practice it semi-regularly since I was 16.

I enjoy working on meaningful things, sometimes focusing on the work, progress, personal development... too much. Over the past three years, I have helped to create a competition in web application development that enables to learn how to code to hundreds of high school students every year.

Cooking helps me to relax from the work as well as sports and is one of the activities I am fully immerse in when doing them. I have been experimenting with fermentation, kombucha brewing and miso making.

I have discovered non-violent communication two years ago and its principles have shaped my outlook on the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why do I travel?
- To see how the different cities and countries across the world "work". How people live, commute and work is more interesting to me then the historical sites.
- To get inspired by interesting people. Inspiration and the flow of doing things that follows is such a great and scarce resource.
- To try out local foods (and learn how to cook them). I can not deny that.

And Couchsurfing is a great way for all of the three points I mentioned.

I am not in a situation when I could accept guests currently. However, I am looking forward to the time where I will have a spare couch and will discover Couchsurfing from the other side.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music changes as the years fly by. Currently enjoying Gorillaz, Depeche Mode and 01099 for instance.

Orwell, Remarque, Škvorecký... Just a few authors whose books I've read and really enjoyed.

Občanský průkaz. The film that makes me want to be beaten up by secret police.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You know, I have mixed relationship with things that produce huge amounts of dopamine – all those experiences. I love to thing about the leverage points in your life. A small things which lead to other and other and in the end shaped who you are.

At the age of 13, I made agreement with my parents that I could only use my computer if I went for a run on a given day. This lead to:

Getting actually better at running -> starting really enjoy orienteering -> finding community where I can always return -> experiences with event management -> joining student non-profit -> attending NVC workshop -> learning NVC affecting my relationship with myself...

And this is just one of many branches of one of many trees.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn something about the thing, you are really passionate about. Yo aprendo Espaňol un poco y quisiero hablar :).

I can teach:
- The basics of fermentation and miso making
- Traditional czech baking (Deep theoretical knowledge with much less actual practical experience :D)
- Non-violent communication practices

I would love to cook you some meal – I do not have the facilities to cook at my dorms right now and do miss it.
