About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a mammoth tusk!

ABOUT ME

I feel blessed to have the opportunity to experience this universe, and I love sharing my adventures with others! The only thing better than having adventures is having cool people to share them with. I love being outdoors and in nature. I don't like cities as much. Skiing, horses, sustainable agriculture, outdoor adventuring, yoga, nature, reading/writing, pushing myself, and self-exploration are my passions. I take things as they come and try not to have expectations. When I have no expectations, I always enjoy things much more! So who's up for an adventure?

PHILOSOPHY

No one can control what circumstances they will face in life. The only thing you CAN control, is how you DECIDE to respond to these situations. And it is a choice. Some people don't realize it's a choice and get caught in a never ending cycle of negativity/unconscious living, or simply don't choose to exercise the self-restraint necessary to react neutrally to situations that are deemed "bad" or "undesirable." By making the decision in any given situation that something is "bad," you then have an aversion to it and wish to be out of that situation or for things to be different than the way they are in the current moment, which is impossible. You set yourself up for unnecessary suffering. So why not just accept things as they are and decide to enjoy the moment for everything it is and isn't? Way easier said than done...but it IS possible to cultivate that kind of mindset, and that's what I try to accomplish in life, success rate undetermined :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like being connected and having a referral network of people to meet when I'm in new places. I haven't hosted anyone in a good couple of years, as I've gotten married and my husband isn't as into unknown people in our home as I am :) So now, I indulge in my love of the unknown when I'm traveling alone to new places!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While traveling alone in the Southwest, I stumbled upon Lake Powell after the desert kicked my ass, cactus-style (when this occurs, an ER trip is necessary because unless you are Gumby, you'll need help pulling ou tthe cactus spines), so I decided to take it easy and chill on the beach for my last day before driving all the way back to Montana. My random choice of a beach was very serendipitous, because I landed right in the middle of a bi-annual fishing rally. Before I even got out of my car, I was approached by a gentleman with a greeting and an invitation that "My houseboat is your houseboat!" Naturally, being a lone female traveler I was wary of such openness from a random male stranger...but as the day wore on, I bumped into him and his younger companions a few times and ended up partying late into the night with them on the beach. I was dubbed "Drifter" for having drifted in on the tide to accompany them in their merry-making and met a wonderful new friend who I really connected with. I ended up extending my vacation and spending the rest of the weekend on a houseboat with this wonderful group of guys, caught the second biggest fish of the rally, and have memories I will cherish forever! I can say I have truly surfed a couch, having slept in a houseboat :)
