About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make it from day now to day later as musically and socially and happily as a life within and potentially beyond limits is possible ...

ABOUT ME

Passionate but not over-the-top, intelligently funny, vagabondish, musical, friendly, eager to meet new people and share experiences; feel that living a satisfying life is a constant quest and a series of conscious choices acted upon.

PHILOSOPHY

To deconstruct the 'box' in order to discover a happier, more honest, more peaceful and natural life in the great outside, as reflected from the great inside.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A tight and active community here in La Rochelle, many of us enjoy monthly get togethers, cultural events, and "showing off" our interesting CSers who stumble upon this lovely town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've done my share of couch-surfing in my travels in the USA, Europe, and Asia and have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know friends better, their families, as well as meet and travel with other fellow vagabonders.
Whenever I settle and have a couch, I'd like to make sure it's large and comfortable enough to provide some comfort and rest to those in need.

Interests

Traveling and living in new places, singing and songwriting (please see my site), writing and reading travelogues and poetry and recently food and environmental activist articles, digital photography, meeting and sharing time with new acquaintances and staying connected with family and old friends, cafe au lait inspired conversation, cooking and sharing yummy and exotic food and beverages, learning and speaking new languages, listening, observing and feeling-connected, bonding through the arts, and romance when inspired...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Find most entertaining (especially foreign films, independent comedies and dramas, some documentaries), but mostly prefer to be away from the screen trying to live my own scenes. I recently saw "Beginners" and was awestruck - so real and romantic.

Music: As a professional folk-rock singer-songwriter, music is my personal soul-food, and I appreciate most musical genres - especially folk, folk-rock, Lounge, Inde Rock, Classical quartets, and World (Brazilian, African, Indian, etc.).

Books: Excerpts from many classic novels and poems, especially The Beats and French poetry and plays. Recently: enjoyed "The Songlines" by Bruce Chatwin, "Jitterbug Perfume" by Robbins, "Song of Myself" from Whitman's Leaves of Grass, "The Power of Now" by Ekhart Tolle, and currently enjoying reads on environmental sustainability - "World on the Edge" by Lester Brown: http://www.earth-policy.org/images/uploads/book_files/wotebook.pdf

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Difficult question... Most recently--as the memory is the freshest-- I loved traveling with new friends to Cinque Terre, Italy. Vernazza is a magical villa nestled on jagged, limestone cliffs above the Mediterranean, where I shared with fellow travelers adventures by day, as wells as delicious Italian food, wine, music, and swimming by night. Despite the jelly fish stings, it was an amazing trip!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach. Learn. Share. This indeed is my motto as a teacher and musician. Everyone has interesting knowledge, a voice to sing, and a moving story to tell.
I've spent the last six years traveling, teaching, and songwriting in Asia and Europe and have had some manic highs and lows, incredible and creepy experiences, grandiose and narrow ideas, powerful love and loss, and generally some meaningful pleasure. Perhaps we can meet and share some tasty food, stories, music, and/or adventures in my place or yours.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, French Southern Territories, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom
