About Me

CURRENT MISSION

An avid-salsa dancer from USA working as an Au Pair in a tiny town outside of Barcelona. Ready to travel all over Spain!

ABOUT ME

I am 24-years old and currently working in Spain as an Au Pair while also attending Spanish language school. After graduating with my bachelors degree in Sociology in 2010, I ventured out into the "work world" thinking that a "full-time, secure" job is what I wanted. But after a year, I found it to be excruciatingly cumbersome and dull. I have a traveling spirit and it was un-bearable watching my youth pass by, trying to climb the "American Corporate Ladder." So, I decided I needed a change, sold everything I owned, gave up my apartment, paid off my debts and moved to Spain to learn Spanish. And so far, it has been the best thing I have ever done! I am totally Espanola at heart (-:

PHILOSOPHY

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one piece of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit than a secure future. The very basic core of one's living spirit is the passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.” ~ Excerpt from “Into The Wild,” written by Christopher Johnson McCandless

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now, I am looking to travel and couchsurf around Europe while I am here living in Spain for the next couple years. However, when I am back in California, I plan to return the favor and open up my home for hosting. I know it is more difficult to "couchsurf" in the states so I am hoping to help bring more people to California!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All of my couch surfing experiences have been incredible thus far! And most have them have been centered around FOOD. I love when my host takes me to eat traditional food from their country. What can I say, I love to EAT!

Interests

Salsa dancing, reading, writing, cycling, and yoga. I have a blog that I am very dedicated to about my travels and experiences here in Spain. Check it out! http://dominique-la-mariposa.blogspot.com.es/
