About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see it all!

ABOUT ME

been lucky enough to spend many years travelling, working occassionally, meeting an amazing amount of excellent people and seeing more of the world than i ever thought i would manage in my entire life.
when i am living in one place, i teach primary aged kids, (they are a captive audience for my self indulgent travel stories that may or may not have some educational benefit). i hope by sharing my love of the world and passion for travel with them, that i might inspire some of the next generation to leave their comfort zone and explore some more of our incredible planet.

PHILOSOPHY

It is definitely worth trying.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have met some amazing people through CS and have regained a faith in the kindness of strangers. I have enjoyed hosting people from different countries, but our busy family life at the moment means we cannot really host. Maybe we will get back into doing this one day.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

met many kind souls who have shared their homes, time, ideas and friendship with me over the years. even been able to extend that hospitality to a few strangers along the way too.

Interests

travelling to as many interesting places as i can. No matter where the destination, there are always new and interesting people, places, foods or events to discover.
art and architecture both ancient and modern.

Music, Movies, and Books

books: poisonwood bible, pillars of the earth, the very hungry caterpillar, crime and punishment, the timetravellers wife, cookbooks, hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
movies: blues brothers, last king of scotland, hotel rwanda, etre et avoir, documentaries
music: eclectic, always willing to give new artists a chance. i rely a lot on recommendations from people i meet. but when i am out dancing... drum and bass or trance, rock and reggae at home, mixed with anything interesting from africa and recently classical concerts have been rocking my world

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i have 2 children. 7 and 5 years old. They are amazing (not always in a good way!)
I also ran a 350km ultra-marathon last year. That was a "fun" way to spend 80 hours!

And almost every place i've managed to get to has offered me something amazing... i guess that's why we all keep trying to see new places.

Teach, Learn, Share

get passionate! it's contagious. infect people with your enthusiasm for whatever it is you love.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A love of cooking (and eating)
Plenty of travel tales!
Enthusiasm for anything and everything.
Conversation and company.
Travel advice (if i've been there and you want to go there).
Ultra-marathon running advice???
