About Me

Hello my name is Drew’s Echelberger, I’m 27 years old and I am an Adventure Cyclist. For me bicycle touring is about living with our regret and living in the moment. One man, one bike, one life. No Reservations No Expectations. Learning something new with each setting sun. Restoring my faith in humanity one day, one mile, and one human interaction at a time, and living to tell the tale of the great American bike ride.

I’m writing a book and filming a docimatary. I’ve been ~14,000 fully loaded self supported miles touring solo through 28/50 states, + Canada & Mexico over the past 19months. Working on building a brand and establishing my credibility as a writer, traveler, advturer, cyclist, storyteller, curator, documentarian, journalist, and arts& culture expert. Reporting on the zeitgeist of the niche subcultures that make this great nation so diverse.

.Im a an artist and I have been visiting and collaborating with other artists along the way. I am a Glassblower more specifically a marble maker. I have been making & hiding marbles along the way and leaving clues to hunt the hides on “Worlds Biggest Marble Hunt” on Facebook. I was recently featured in the “Open Road Gallery” (the Back Page) Of The Dec18/Jan19 issue of Adventure Cyclist Magazine.

I am working towards my ultimate goal of having and adventure cycling based travel show. I’ve been working tons of random odd jobs along the way to make ends meet and sustain this lifestyle. At the end of the day I’m a storyteller and that’s all I really want to do. I want to live a life worth telling a story about and share with you some of my expirences. I am more than willing to talk shop and share tricks of the trade/tell stories in exchange for a meal/place to lay my weary bones for an evening.

For now I’ll leave you with a poem I wrote before I left home that has since become my trip
Motto/Mantra.

“I don’t know what I’m looking for
But I know it’s worth looking for

I’m not sure where I’m going
But I’m not staying still

The futures uncertain
But it’s still gonna happen

Nothing else matters
but the top Of the hill”

Cheers, can’t wait to meet you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On a self supported bicycle tour, ballin on a budget. Sometimes I just need a place to rest my weary bones, I normally use WarmShowers.Org but Couchsurfing seems to have more Hosts available. I prefer to travel in this manor, it's more fun; you meet more people, and make more connections/friends. Plus the locals have all the best tips on what to do/where to eat & drink! :)
