Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoying time back home with my family. Farm and ferment more.
ABOUT ME
Currently working through a transformative process. Went to school and got a good job in the IT world, but that life wasn't right for me. I spent 9 months traveling and discovered some wonderfully amazing things about the world via bike touring, running, reading, couch surfing, and meeting fascinating people.
I now live in Houston where I am trying to live as sustainably as I can in an urban environment. I love biking around town, serving food at Food Not Bombs, helping facilitate open forum discussions about sustainability and personal development.
PHILOSOPHY
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently back home in Houston, Texas, but did do a fair bit of surfing in Fiji (travelled) and New Zealand (travelled and hosted). I love the program.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Most of my CouchSurfing experience has come from New Zealand. I have stayed will all different types of people and have found something amazing to take away from each of those short relationships. One connection I made has led to me stay in New Zealand for an extra 6 months, which was an amazing experience.
Interests
I enjoy fermenting, biking, serving others, listening, running, hiking, mountain biking, surfing, reading, and talking about the state of the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I really enjoy hiking and I think one of the best I have experienced was the West Coast Trail in Canada. 2 friends, my brother, and I did the trail during a rainstorm that was said to be the worst in 22 years. We had water up to our waist on much of the trail, and since it was in May, it was too cold to stop to rest, so most days we hiked without stopping. The sun finally came out on the 5th day and it was one of the most glorious days of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have learned from Sandor Katz book about wild fermentation of vegetables, kombucha, and wild wines. I love to share this knowledge.
I love to cook vegetarian dishes, but don't normally follow recipes. I also like baking bread from scratch, and am happy to share that knowledge!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cook a meal, ferment veggies with you.
