About Me
CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME
i work selling produce and dj around town and at the local radio station (www.kdvs.org), and spend the rest of my time sleeping, running, swimming, cooking, thinking too much, and just generally screwing around. one day i'd like to open a movie theatre.
PHILOSOPHY
"without love your ass is lacking major shit in your life"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
really there are few things in the world that i'm more behind. hospitality is something i truly believe in, and i love getting to share my home with travelers and meeting new people when i'm on the road myself.
Interests
cooking, farming, sustainable living, carpentry, djing, basketball, soccer, animals, food preserving, just generally interested in any kind of practical project type skills i can learn. i love to bake, and in the last year i've been doing a lot of brewing. fermenting, kitchen projects, whatever.
especially interested in things like the slow food movement (slowfood.com), trying to encourage people to slow down and take more ownership of their daily lives, using food as a starting point. trying to figure out how best to go about that.
if there's one thing i truly love in this world, it's a good oyster. the key to my heart.

Music, Movies, and Books
books: joyce, faulkner, epics, wendell berry, jim harrison, raymond chandler, robert bly, gary snyder
music: pavement, yo la tengo, silver jews, adult dude, the zombies, the-dream, gap band, sly stone, stevie, galaxie 500, guided by voices, DYLAN, k records stuff, indie pop, boogie, disco, funk, r+b, R KELLY, basically anything
some of my favorite films are purple rain, playtime, the big lebowski, jules and jim, the samurai trilogy, any of the movies herzog and kinski did together, tropical malady...i also have a weird thing for nicolas cage movies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
sunrise over the atlantic ocean in maine. in the summer of '06 three of us squeezed into my pickup truck and spent a month on the road across america. the farthest north and east we got was a little town called york beach, maine. we pitched our tent up on a hill right on the ocean and watching the sun rise in the morning was maybe the best part of the whole trip.
also i once peed on the same wall that leopold bloom does in ulysses.
Teach, Learn, Share
love to cook for my hosts/guests, or even better cook with them. trading recipes and tips in the kitchen, heading out to market together. i can teach you all about fermentation and food preserving, how to make jams and preserves, baking...really i'm into experimenting in the kitchen and if you want to do that together i'm into it. i've spent the last few years farming, too, so i can help working in or starting a garden. i'd love to trade book and movie recommendations, i'm pretty tidy...i've probably got a few other tricks up my sleeve i'm not mentioning.
as far as what i'd like to learn, pretty much anything practical i'm down to learn about. i'm getting pretty decent with carpentry and automotive repair and whatnot, but i've got plenty to learn for sure.
