About Me

CURRENT MISSION

play music, travel, show the world the Buffalo, NY I love.

ABOUT ME

I love to travel but I suppose that is somewhat of a given on this website...Music is my life and basically what I spend the vast majority of my free time doing; be it playing guitar, writing songs, or merely listening to and drawing inspiration from music others have made...I work in the wine industry and am tasting new wines/spirits/sakes most days of my life. I love discussing wine with other enthusiasts. My favorite wine regions include: Rhone Valley/Loire Valley/Champagne (France), Marlborough (New Zealand), and Niagara Escarpment (New York State/Southern Ontario).I love sports of all kinds but my absolute favorites are hockey and soccer/futbol... I'm not really much of a fan of American Football.I have my political beliefs but I really am not much of a politics person, I don't mind at all if you are, but I'm not going to contribute too much to the conversation (unless you catch me in a rare mood)... I'll merely be an inquisitive listener.

PHILOSOPHY

Music, wine, and the Buffalo Sabres make my world go 'round...

...you can reach anyone through food.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't have a couch to offer at this moment (after all, I sleep on the couch where I live) but would be more than happy to show Buffalo, NY to anyone who may be passing through the area. Buffalo is my hometown and I have a love for it that is only rivaled by my love for guitar. I know which places to definitely check out and which places to avoid.

I am also very knowledgeable on the city of Toronto and am willing to accompany surfers to Toronto if my schedule permits it. Otherwise I would be happy to help plan an itinerary and/or recommend things to do while in Toronto.

I can easily navigate the majority of New York State and can provide directions to pretty much anywhere given the length of time I have lived where I have.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have yet to surf or host outside of the cities I have lived in, but have definitely surfed the couches of my friends who are fellow CouchSurfers (and hosted some of them as well)... I have met a decent amount of CouchSurfers who have been staying with my friends before and have helped to entertain them/show them around the city to the best of my ability... I am extremely excited to gain more experience CouchSurfing and to meet many, many more people, because everyone I have met through this site so far has been great.

Interests

my favorite things in life would have to be playing guitar, eating/cooking delicious food, wine, the Buffalo Sabres (and hockey in general), and classic cinema...

there is always music playing in my head, I collect vinyl records, and could very easily spend the rest of my life laying on my back in a beautiful location just listening to the music I love.

besides that, I take much enjoyment out of enjoying a good glass of wine or beer, board games, reading a book, and watching old movies...

When I'm out I always enjoy a good game of darts, pool, or foosball at the bar... and as far as I'm concerned, one can never go wrong with live music...

Since the day I could drive, road trips have been one of my favorite things in life... boo gas prices!

Music, Movies, and Books

my tastes vary greatly as you will read shortly

Music: as Jerry Garcia said, "I can enjoy any music as long as it comes from the heart", but I mostly listen to classic rock, blues, and jazz. Favorites include Guns N' Roses, Black Sabbath, Meil Young, Miles Davis, Radiohead, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Portishead, Iron Maiden, and Cannonball Adderley... but really, I love everything from Gustav Mahler to Hank Williams Jr.

Movies: I love action movies and classic cinema so I have an eclectic mix of favorites.
Action movies = Terminator 2, Pulp Fiction, any James Bond movie, Natural Born Killers, Apocalypse Now, Se7en, Almost Famous, and Blow.
Classic Cinema = Casablanca, It Happened One Night, Rear Window, Love In The Afternoon, Dr. Strangelove, and Doctor Zhivago

My taste in books is all over the place but some examples are Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Great Gatsby, Kitchen Confidential, Harry Potter series, and James Bond novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I look for amazing things every day of my life... I usually succeed.

Driving through West Virginia in November as I was moving back to Buffalo from Florida, after taking Fall for granted my entire life and then not seeing leaves change for over 3 years was definitely an eye opener as well.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've played guitar for over a decade now and would love to show anyone some techniques or songs... or at least a chord or two.

I can teach anyone about wine as well... it is part of my job after all.

I'm pretty handy and have worked for several years in an industry that requires building and assembling things... I can cook meals I'm proud of and mix a hell of a drink to go with it...

I'm an encyclopedia of random Buffalo, NY trivia... ex. - that green stuff on the sponge in your kitchen is from Buffalo... the kazoo? ditto.

I've decided that I want to learn several languages and am always looking to learn anything I can in other languages... I love to learn though, especially random/weird things......... if you have something to teach, I'd probably like to learn it.
