ABOUT ME
[This is my profile from earlier when I took a 12,000-mile road trip. I'm back in PA and looking to contribute to the couchsurfing community that did so much for me while traveling.]
Greetings. My name is Drew and I am currently on a trip partially inspired by the travels of the great American novelist John Steinbeck as documented fifty years ago in Travels with Charley. I don't have a dog with me, but I do have the same adventurous and curious spirit that is taking me across the country.
So far, I have been traveling and living in a large van and have gone about 6,000 miles, staying mostly at campgrounds and friends' houses when I have the opportunity. I have to stay budget-conscious, though, that's why I am trying this. Of course, I would also love to meet and talk to people in different areas all over this great country of ours.
Oh, and I am a 30 year old social studies teacher. I cashed in my retirement to be able to do this, which I am sure I will regret later, but it had to be done. I have been dreaming of it for too long.
PHILOSOPHY
I have to see the country now because tomorrow may be too late. And when I settle, I will be happy to host those with the same view.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
[Updated: couch probably available!]
I would be more than thrilled to have even a safe place to park for the evening, maybe with an outlet for my portable heater. But I cook a mean (and sanitary) hobo stew and would be happy to help around the house or yard in any way to earn my stay.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Two AWESOME people -- a guy named Ben in Michigan and a woman named Kristi in Wisconsin. Couchsurfing rocks.
[Updated: Jonathan in Memphis, awesome guy]

Teach, Learn, Share
This is new to me and I don't know if it will work. I would love to be able to be a host in the future, but for now, I have to find my way for the next 7,000 miles. I would love to be able to add more here, please help me out.
[Updated: trip was perfect and now it's my turn to host]
