CURRENT MISSION
Travel the world
ABOUT ME
I'm a nomad. Since 1994 the longest I've spent continuously in one place is 8 months, and that was in Lhasa, Tibet. For 10 years I simply lived out of a backpack, having no permanent place to call home. However, that changed in late 2010 when my wife, Rhona, and I moved to Munich. Our son was born in April of 2011, so our traveling has slowed, but it will never stop. I have a job where I work for 6 weeks, and then have 6 weeks vacation, so we plan on exploring parts of Europe during some of my breaks. We're looking forward to our son catching the travel bug, and to seeing many new places through his eyes.
PHILOSOPHY
Everyone who lives, dies, but not everyone who dies has lived.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We've attended meetings in various countries, and have surfed a few couches along the way. And now that we finally have a place to call home, we're looking forward to hosting others.
Interests
Travel, and everything that goes along with it - meeting people, experiencing new cultures, trying new foods, enduring local transport, and waiting patiently during the inevitable delays and unexpected events. I also enjoy hiking, and we try to incorporate some nice hikes into most of our travels.

Music, Movies, and Books
For movies I enjoy mindless comedies and historical documentaries.
While traveling in a country I like to read books which give me a better understanding of the people, culture, and history of the area.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sunrise over Machu Picchu in Peru. The ruins of Angkor in Cambodia. Mt. Everest from both Nepal and Tibet. Men wearing only penis gourds in Papua, Indonesia. Tibetan festivals.
