About Me

Studying and working at the same time. All in on the budget travelling bandwagon (and more than happy to support others).

A curious lad. I love travelling and photography. I'm always trying to get to know a place from the inside - go off the main street/the beaten track, try to sink in. I'm gathering courage to become a digital nomad (once I graduate), but for now - I try to use every excuse and occasion to just go travelling. Once away, I try to really get to know the place - from trying all kinds of local cuisine to learning about its history and culture.

I try to live like there was a tomorrow. And even a day after it. And a couple more. But it's not a reason not to have fun from time to time!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During the summer season, happy to be a host (as well as visit some fellow Couchsurfers around the globe) -
please check "My Home" section for more details. During the rest of the year mainly stationary. Even if temporarily unable to host, always happy to hang out with and show around the city. I've worked in the local tourist office, so it's a perk.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far - only one small (yet very successful and satisfying) trip to Manchester and keeping company/showing around to a few travellers in Gdansk. All encounters - very positive - and I'm surely hoping for more!

Interests

I'm very open-minded, therefore I seem to end with more interests than I can handle (what hurts my curiosity in the end). :P There are though a couple of things I'm completely crazy about.

First of all - music. I listen, I play, I create. Mostly as an amateur, but it doesn't stop me from getting a lot of fun in the process. I primarily play on a keyboard, but I've had my episode with a guitar and a harmonica. In terms of listening, my weak spot's vinyl.

Second - photography. I just love capturing my perspective and/or point of view of the new places. You have some magical places of your own? Awesome! You're visiting and want to see the city from the inside? Great! Want to make some photos together/share experiences? I'm the guy!

Finally - computers. Well, technology overall. As well a fan of PCs themselves (in terms of overclocking and having fun with hardware), as of what one could do with them. Apart from being a software engineer, I'm also into audio/video/image editing (some time ago I even had a small, amateur movie studio!).

And of course, why would I be here if I didn't love travelling? Visiting new places, getting to know cities from the inside.. or just taking long cycling trips into the unknown - you name it!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
That's a biggie. I listen very various genres of music - as long as it has "it", I'm in! Of course, there are a couple of favorites, but if you're a real music lover - you know it doesn't stop there. :)

Favourites:
-rock: mainly progressive, a bit of classical, psychedelic.. or even balancing on the pop-jazz-rock border - (e.g. Sting). One of my favourites are Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, The Who, Dire Straits, Yes, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson..
-jazz: all kinds of it - the good ol' one (Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Paul Desmond, etc.), as well as more modern (ie. fusion - Yellowjackets),
-electronic/ambient (mainly the old one - like Klaus Schulze, Pete Namlook, Steve Roach, Tangerine Dream.. but also some newer artists like Daft Punk or Prodigy)
-blues: good 'ol blues. 'nuff said.

When it comes to books and movies, I'm very open-minded. I especially like science fiction. Currently, I'm really into Terry Pratchett (books) and Doctor Who (TV).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So much there, where to begin? Tell you what - once we meet we can exchange a couple of great stories!

Teach, Learn, Share

Anything to do with IT, computers, etc. - consider it done. I mean, really - just let me know.

I'll be more than happy to teach you the basics of playing a piano. Maybe you want to learn a couple of polish phrases? Or you're a fellow photographer?

What I Can Share with Hosts

Apart from the things mentioned in the "Teach, Learn, Share" section, I'm a very keen cook. Want to try traditional Polish cuisine? Be my gue.. host!

If you need anything having to do with current technology, I'm most probably able to help! I'm a major nerd and unlike most software engineers, I don't fall into "no, I won't fix your computer" category.

I'm really into photography and music - also from the technical point of view (I can help you pick the right equipment). If you're into those - I'd be more than happy to discuss my/your experiences. If you're not - I could introduce you or help. :)
