Hello! I'm Dan, and I have almost no experience traveling internationally, and I am bad, but getting better, at travelling while being very bad at the local language.
I currently live in Oregon, with my girlfriend Hilary, who is in grad school, and our akita, Kuma.
Hilary and I have spent a lot of time travelling by foot and bike in the US over the past 7 years, including thru hikes of the PCT and CDT.
Most of my travel and recreation revolves around spending time in some different mountains, and I am looking forward to adding the Andes to that list.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've loved meeting people along the trails we have hiked and on bike tours, and have always been excited to stay with real people instead of at a hostel or campground.
Currently in a foreign country where I dont speak the language for the first time, and could use any help I can get.

Interests

Skiing and snowboarding in the winter, mostly in the backcountry, and climbing and hiking in the summer. Mostly just easy hikes with my dog, though, recently.
My girlfriend Hilary and I have spent a few full summers either thru-hiking or bike touring, but now that she is in grad school we are weekend warriors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We loved hiking the PCT and now the CDT, and all the great people we meet along the way. We got to see wolves chasing an elk in the Gila Wilderness!
