ABOUT ME

We have been married for 13 years, have 2 kids ages 5 & 3, and a German Shepherd who is 11. We love traveling, music, art & enjoy good food and drinks!

Matt is a firefighter/paramedic and a dent tech (he saves lives and takes dents out of cars). He is also a drummer, brewer, and likes to smoke meat on the grill.

Brittany is an artist and photographer. She enjoys baking & teaching the boys all kinds of things.

We had the great opportunity to host once. We surfed through Europe as much as we could.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We surfed with a couple in Germany, a girl in Austria, and a couple in Italy. We have hosted a guy from Germany. Our experiences have been amazing times with friends. The best parts of our trips were always couchsurfing. We wish we could've done it more.

We also go on a lot of road trips around the US, and find family and friends that will let us stay with them.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

We honestly don’t watch much TV or movies. When we have down time, we turn on Netflix and watch House of Cards, Breaking Bad (Matt), How I Met your Mother, Scrubs, The Office, Mad Men (Brit), Departures, Man in the High Castle, Walking Dead, Comedians in Cars getting Coffee, Anthony Bourdain’s shows and documentaries.

Music: The National, Vance Joy, Freelance Whales, The Black Keys, Adele, Jason Mraz, The Fray, Ray Lamontagne, John Mayer, The Arctic Monkeys, Bob Marley, City and Colour, The Civil Wars, Jose Gonzalez, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, The Beatles, Wintersleep, Damien Rice, Foo Fighters. We listen to pretty much any genre. Music is often playing in our house.

Books: I would really like to get reading, but I find myself lacking time, though I do find time for the Bible. My wife likes Outliers, Drive, Blink, Emily Ley, Jen Hatmaker, Shauna Niequist, and Boundaries. She doesn't have a ton of time to read either.

Matt has run two marathons, one in Atlanta and one in Sarasota!

We took 12 high school students on a photography trip to Chicago for 6 days when Brittany was a teacher. It was awesome, but exhausting!

Our favorite trip to date, we have traveled through Germany, Austria, Italy, and France for 5 weeks. It was amazing! We will definitely go back to Germany - a little town called Krov was our favorite place!

share: best tip for travel: pack light! only take it if you'll use it at least three times. (learned this from rick steves blog) also, pack lightweight (SO useful). -Brit
