About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Feel home in Québec

ABOUT ME

I'm an uncomplicated person who loves talking and laughing with nice people. Expert in sharing apartments, I met all kind of people and I always had very good experiences. Until recently I was testing video games in German and French as it gave me the opportunity to stay in this wonderful city while waiting for my permanent residency. I am not into gaming at all, but finally it was quite a funny job and I love working with people from all over the world, practicing my language skills and finding funny language issues. Now I work for the Goethe-Institut here in Montréal and give advices to all those motivated people who want to learn German and go to Germany soon. I am lucky to stay in touch with my culture and language while being abroad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't have a lot of time to host you and I share my apartment, but I could show you my favorite places in Montréal. I know the city quite well and I especially know good places to eat, to have a cup of coffee or to listen to good music. One advice for everyone: Go to P'tit bar and enjoy the good music and intimate atmosphere. I am sure that you will love it and meet some nice people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'll never forget the night on a deserted rooftop of a military building close to Halifax with coyotes around us and shooting stars above. Thanks to my wonderful hosts. I also made very good friends in Buenos Aires and was invited to a private evening at the place of an Italian guy who hosts people in his houses in Roma and Buenos Aires. His homemade pasta was awesome and I will never forget the Peruvian guy whose dream was it to rollerblade in a sunga - a very tight bathing suit at the Copacabana.
I've never hosted someone, but you're invited one day when I have my own space.

Interests

I like travelling, reading, theatre, music, eating, washing the dishes and just being happy. My favorite new hobby is playing the violin. Nobody believes me that my roommates aren't bothered. A man in our backyard told me recently that I'm a pretty good beginner. :)
And very soon I want to improve my Japanese. I went there for three weeks last year and really enjoyed it. Great feeling to be able to understand a few words to order in the restaurant.

Music, Movies, and Books

Viktor Vogel - and I met an American-Irish guy in a hostel in Osaka who knew this underestimated German movie. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting to know a lot of lovely people here in Montreal who I see again and again by coincidence makes me happy. For me it's still astonishing to realize that the province of Quebec is a big village.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am becoming a pretty good German and French teacher and I could show you how to bake my grandma's Apfelkuchen.
