About Me

CURRENT MISSION

enjoy life, have fun, meet people, learn about different cultures, be a better person.

ABOUT ME

I love being with people, learning new things and traveling, of course.. Recently, I moved from upstate New York to California and love the sunny weather and lifestyle. I work per diem as a nurse, teach, make pottery and do crafty things. I speak some Spanish and ASL. Places I have traveled include Mexico, Panama, England (where I was born), France, Germany, Belgium, Israel, Spain, Greece, Italy, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, and all over the U.S. I have raised 6 children and have 8 granddaughters. I feel like I am 20 years old, and am constantly surprised when I look in the mirror.

PHILOSOPHY

helping people and making the most of the short time we (I) have on earth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couchsurfing, but look forward to connecting with people and learning about other cultures. I do not have a home I can offer to people yet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Went to an Easter Brunch for my first CS event. I learned a lot about how the organization worked and also enjoyed the hospitality and warm welcome from Tom and Liz and all the other members present. I have also met Luis and he kindly showed me downtown Santa Ana and taught me a little about the Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite magazine is the New Yorker, I listen to NPR and read the New York Times almost daily, either in paper or electronic edition. I used to read books frequently, but lately haven't had the time. Love a good movie, maybe romantic comedy or just comedy. Don't like scary movies that make me sweat or raise my heart rate.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of the interesting things that have happened during my travels include: meeting the prince of Lichtenstein while backpacking with my daughter through Europe on a Eurail pass (and no reservations- wish I had known about CS), losing a gold earring on the bottom step of the Eiffel Tower, discovering it missing 7/8th of the way up, walking all the way down to retrieve it and then back up, Swimming in crocodile infested waters (unknowingly!), watching a whale breech in front of my kayak, returning to England to see the house I was born in, and meeting my across the street NY neighbor on an airplane from LAX to Chicago- neither of us had ever met the other!

Teach, Learn, Share

i know a lot about health and how to stay healthy. i know how to throw a pot on a wheel, hand build, crochet, knit, bake, raise children and breastfeed (that is what i teach to new mothers) . i can cook, bake and make funny animals out of socks!
