About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Not much makes me happier than traveling. For a while I volunteered downtown at the international hostel as a way to meet travelers, but time commitments interfered. I'm excited to meet couch surfers!

ABOUT ME

I have been living in Chicago since 2004. I love traveling, and even when I am unable to travel myself, I still love interacting with fellow travelers. I work during the weekdays (9AM - 6PM) and have evenings and weekends free (although I usually find a way to fill them with activities). I'm pretty easy going. I am openly gay and also still very involved with my fraternity (Delta Sigma Phi). See the rest of the fields for more details about my interests!

PHILOSOPHY
I relate pretty strongly to secular humanists and agnostic atheists. I personally try to follow the Ethic of Reciprocity (basically treat others like you'd like to be treated). I'm always interested in chatting with people of different backgrounds, but as a gay man I'm not interested in hosting anyone who is not pro gay rights.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm happy to meet up for coffee/drinks/an event or to even host my couch if the timing is right!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a couple of friends involved with couch surfing and they have had interesting, fun experiences. I've not had any personal experiences yet, but I am excited to give it a try.

Interests

Music - I tend to go to at least one concert a week. I love all the selections that Chicago provides.

Geocaching - It's my favorite hobby, and a great way for me to explore the city I live in, and also places I visit. If you love traveling but have never tried geocaching, I'd love to show you the ropes! (It's kind of like a world wide high-tech treasure hunt).

Hiking/Kayaking - I would rather walk than drive most anywhere, and during the summer in Chicago I love kayaking.

Good food! Chicago has so many great high end restaurants and also great diner fare. I love trying new things and the social aspects of dining out.

Going off the beaten path: From the MP3 Experiment, to the International Pillow Fight Day, to Neo-Futurist plays - I take pride in hearing my friends say "you always do the most interesting things!"
