ABOUT ME
I am young Portuguese folk who loves to travel.
In 2010: did my first backpacking experience, travelling alone for almost two months in Europe by train. Had a way too big backpack for me, wasn't even funny, was also carrying my guitar. Had some cool adventures and my very first surfing experience in Tallinn. Hosted a bunch of people when I returned to Portugal at the middle of August. Was awesome!
In 2011: Lived in Copenhagen (Denmark) as an exchange student in the spring semester (from January to June) travelling on weekend (or long weekends when possible) mostly to Europe. Also went to the USA for the first time, to Orlando and New York. Went to Moscow and St. Petersburg in an University of Copenhagen spring break study trip, which was a very cool experience. In the summer I did the Trans Manchurian railway all the way from St. Petersburg to Shanghai (through Mongolia) for nearly two months, flying from there to San Francisco to visit a friend. Headed down the coast all the way to San Diego, went to L.A. and ended up in Vegas. After returning to San Francisco I flew to New York and from there to Venice, finally returning home afterwards. This was my first (and only) round-the-world trip, literally.
In 2012: Visited Brazil for a month during the Carnival, which was an insane experience. Awesome trip as I was meeting a very good friend I made in Copenhagen. In the Summer when I went to India for two months. I surfed a lot there and met a lot of cool and caring people.
In 2013: Finished my bachelor and took my gap year as I had planned for a very long time. Traveled in South East Asia for 6 months doing the traditional route of the backpackers: Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia. In August a friend from home joined me for the month and we went to East Timor and Australia to meet up with another friend. Surfed in Melbourne with somebody I had hosted before in Portugal, which was a first, and a very cool experience. Also went to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
In 2014: Started working and so for now plans are on the back burner but I am planning a South American swing soon ;D
PHILOSOPHY
Enjoy every day, one at a time!
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I joined Couchsurfing back in the summer on 2010 and since then I have hosted about 150+ surfers and surfed around 50 times I guess.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have met the most amazing people through Couchsurfing and because of them I was part of epic stories that I can tell for years and years to come. Should write a book on it already.
Interessen
I love sports, music and cinema.
I used to practice swimming and football and I started tennis later on. I am a big sports fan and try to follow with the news and events.
I love going to the movies or watching them at home. I am also into TV Shows. Surfers are encouraged to recommend movies or shows, I love discovering new things.
I play the guitar and love creating music. I listen to all kinds of music (don't care much for rap or dub step though) and was raised listening to Queen and Pink Floyd. For playing I prefer Jazz and Bossa Nova (brazilian Jazz). I always travel with my beloved guitar... :)

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I quite enjoy old movies and new ones too, I would say American Beautiful and Million Dollar Baby are amongst my favorite recent ones. As for the old ones, I like Casablanca and On the waterfront. That's just on top of my head. I would love to have a cinema discussion...
As for music i would say my favorite band is Queen, and I quite enjoy Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Beatles and other rocks bands too. I also like country and soul music, like Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Recently i also fell in love with Jazz, mostly Sinatra and nat King Cole, and Bossa Nova, the likes of Jobim and Joao Gilberto. I actually enjoy all kinds of musics, as long as it has a good vibe...
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Well Portugal lost in the Euro 2004 final and my country "crying" for the lost was something that touched me deeply. Sports do connect people in a level no other thing can.
Epic stories with couchsurfers:
- Hosted a group of 15 once from all over the world;
- Went from Kiel to Hamburg with no money and one guitar with my host (who also had a guitar). Came back with almost 4 euros profit;
- Was in a VIP lounge area drinking Moet Chandon for free in a Gala, courtesy of a surfer (no idea how he got there, he wouldn't tell me);
- Went to a Karaoke in Ho Chin Minh City and sang in Vietnamese. Didn't do really well though;
- Had meals in Google, they have an amazing kitchen.
Can't tell you all since I will be out of stories ;D
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I love learning new things with anyone.
Do you know how to cook Italian food? Teach me.
Maybe play some instrument? Teach me.
Your own language? Teach me.
And so on. I will do the same for you. I believe that sharing knowledge is quite important.
