About Me

OUR COUCHSURFING INTENTIONS
In the past, we've hosted individuals who've viewed our home as their AirBnB. Let me say upfront that we are not a hotel, hostel, motel, inn, or AirBnB. We host couch-surfers for the experience of meeting like-minded people. As such, we expect you to treat our home as if it is where we live and not just a place you can leave your stuff laying around.

We do expect something in return for hosting - the nature of that is your choice. Whether it is interesting conversation, a meal, pictures of your journey, playing a board game, we just expect you to engage with our family at some point during your stay.

Ultimately, if you are comfortable with the above, I'm sure you will have a great stay and my family will be grateful for your visit.

Finally, all couch requests should include the information I've included at the end of the home section.

CURRENT MISSION

Raising my children to be good people.

ABOUT ME

I am adventurous and love new experiences, particularly when they relate to traveling the new places. I grew up in and always hold a place in my heart for New York. One day I hope to move back, but for now, I am really enjoying the outdoors life of Phoenix, Arizona and the hiking and running that one can do there year-round. I have been known to be alternatively social and introspective. Hopefully both qualities will serve me well during my future couchsurfing trips.

PHILOSOPHY

Had we had but world enough, and time...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the beginning, I was a prodigious surfer, but now have settled into a role as a frequent host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have attended various NYC area events and have met a ton of amazing people. I couchsurfed in Ireland in April-May 2009 and traveled through Ireland with other CSers as well as couch-surfed throughout Spain, Portugal and Italy throughout the summer of 2009. And now, I mostly host guests to the Phoenix area.

Interests

Hiking and running in Phoenix are definite positives. But I also love to play basketball and football with friends. Besides that, I am a prodigious reader.

I am a huge foodie as well. Most of the time that involves cooking with whatever is on hand or available, but I think I'm pretty good at it. And I love my coffee. Can't get enough of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Other than including "Casablanca", this is too long to list.
Music: Bon Iver; Ryan Adams; Imogen Heap; Ray LaMontagne; Norah Jones; and much more.
Books: Anything about historical Fiction, science fiction, sociology...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2004-2005, I lived in Kiev, Ukraine and was there for the Orange Revolution. It was absolutely amazing. There was an excitement in the air as over 1,000,000 people crowded into the center of the city to protest the fixed elections. Just an awesome experience. Sad to contrast that with the recent Euromaiden protests and the violence.

Also, during the summer of 2002, a friend and I drove over 18,000 miles in 37 days and visited every existing baseball stadium in Major League Baseball. Was a ton of fun to basically sleep in my car as we caught every pitch.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am kind of a jack of all trades and am pretty good at fixing things with my hands. I am also a good athlete and would serve as an able companion for an outdoors adventure. At night, I definitely would enjoy discussing environmental law and policy while sipping on a pint (or two, or three). And finally, I'm a pretty good cook (or at least I like to think so.)
