About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to have a complete couchsurfing profile, so i can send joel messages

ABOUT ME

i'm currently a student and probably will be for a while. i spend some of my time thinking about physics and philosophy, which are the things i study. i thoroughly enjoying discussions that involve these topics.

i have general affinity for bicycles and baked goods. i think breakfast is easily the best meal, especially when it involves many friends. pancakes are okay, but i usually need to be reminded about what is so great about them.

i sometimes knit things. i once almost finished a cardigan. i'll get around to it eventually.

i tend not to capitalize letters. sorry if that's annoying.

PHILOSOPHY

i guess things are pretty complicated, so i try not to form unwavering opinions. there are probably many ways to live a good life, and i think my friends are all examples of some of those different possible ways. i guess i think my friends a pretty great. i guess i think that meeting new people and making new friends tends to teaches me something about the many ways to live a good life.

Music, Movies, and Books

musics is a good thing. i especially like to hear the songs written by friends: peter demakos, rob pearson, your neck of the woods.

i think good lyrics is what i tend to look for in a song. but there are some songs i love that have awful lyrics.

i tend to listen to canadian music, since that is where i'm from: arcade fire, the new pornographers, sarah harmer, rae spoon, the burning hell, okkervil river, the weakerthans. i also like joanna newsom, the yeah yeah yeahs, neko case, regina spektor, etc..

movies are good too. well, some of them. they're better when they're rented with friends, and even better when returned on time without incurring late fines, but that isn't very often. wet hot american summer is a very funny movie.

books: gabriel garcia marquez, marilynne robinson, kurt vonnegut, steinbeck, andre brink, j.m. coetzee, milan kundera.

for non-fiction, i haven't read one of the cbc massey lecture series books that i didn't learn tons from yet. but i've only read two of them. i like physics textbooks, does that count?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i once saw a monkey steal a juicebox from a small child. the poor kid never had a chance.

Teach, Learn, Share

i like to talk about physics. but don't worry, i don't have to talk about physics if that's not your thing. i know how to play guitar and some other stringed instruments, like ukulele and banjo. i can knit a little too.

i would like to learn how to mend clothes. and more about fixing bicycles.

cooking and baking are things i like to learn, teach, and share!
