About Me

I'm a Portuguese just graduated medical doctor, currently pursuing a career in global health, who loves the World, traveling and understanding different cultures and people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Every time I travel I want to experience the place slowly and try to understand the local way of living and visions of the World. We all have something to learn from each other, so I'm here to be an avid student of people, while enjoying the pleasures of life.

Interests

I learned classical guitar when I was young, then I had a garage Punk band and after that I was part of a Portuguese traditional university band called Tuna Académica de Biomédicas. I always loved music and I believe that every style has its own particular greatnesses, from Strauss' classical music to Goa Gil's psy trance.

I played handball during 11 years and recently started to learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but still love to play some football, basketball or simply to run, ride the bike or hike.

One of the things that I like to do the most is to cook, either a well planned Portuguese dinner helped by some bottles of wine, or the fastest creative lunch with any ingredients available for improvisation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meeting all the types of people around the world, with all their diferences and particularities, is always the most amazing thing I can imagine myself doing, but if I had to share three experiences, it would be:
- During 2 months traveling in South America I lived 5 + 15 days with 2 different tribes in the Amazon Jungle, filming and participating in their ways of living, rituals, medicines, traditions and views of human existence.
- Volunteering during 15 days in a Syrian and Afghan Refugee Camp near Athens, Greece, in the peak of the refugee crisis.
- Volunteering for 2 months in a Children's Home of orphan and semi-orphan children in Tamil Nadu state, South India, helping with the medical issues, fundraising and developing the organization.
