About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Roam. Listen. Hitch Hike. Ukulele.

ABOUT ME

New York Native with lived experience/extended stays in Italy (as a student) Beijing (teaching at an international school) and Lesotho (peace corps!). I currently live in the mountains of Keda, Georgia.

Workwise: All my professional roles have involved education - most recently I worked for NYC Department of Education to develop pre-service teachers for the unique challenges of teaching in the city's toughest to staff schools. Before that I lived on a boat.

PHILOSOPHY

"all we do our whole lives is go from one little piece of holy ground to the next."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

hosting, surfing, singing, cooking, eating, mixing, drinking,

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed for the first time in Geneva after hearing the gospel from an itinerant juggler on a long (long) bus ride from Istanbul to Athens. Since then have hosted in Lesotho and surfed through Southern Africa, Europe and Asia.

Interests

your opinions, your perspectives, thoughts and stories.
your favorite songs/books/poems/coffee mugs/instruments.

Sincerity, deference, music and books and all the associated discourse. Walking places.

Music, Movies, and Books

Let's talk about it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Played a version of "American Pie" on ukulele for the King Of Lesotho.

Camped in the gorgeously empty expanse of Botswana's Salt Pans and nearly exploded my tent with South African fireworks.

Taught third grade in Harlem.

Hiked the Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Swam with whale sharks off the coast of Mozambique.

Hiked Mount Fuji, descending in the very dark.

Slept in the broke-down stretches of the Great Wall

Hiked 2,181 miles from a mountaintop in Georgia (the state this time) to a mountaintop in Maine on the Appalachian Trail.

Couchsurfed with incredibly hospitable, generous and kind hearted people who were previously complete strangers.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: ukulele/guitar, one relatively obscure African language (Mohotse oa ka, ke tla ruta l'uena)

Share: music, stories, a wide range of favorite poems, wine or etc.
